Papermakers Arms is a country pub oozing rural charm & rustic character, set in the picturesque village of Plaxtol. Offering the finest British food locally sourced (wherever possible) from quality suppliers, this impressive destination pub serves the heart of the community as well as visitors from further afield. The seasonal menus are complemented by carefully selected cask ales, a superior list of fine wines & an extensive gin menu many of which are produced locally.

Lovely food - great Sunday roast! We loved the “Blooming Onion” starter, it was delicious and very creative. Staff were friendly and attentive. Shame they ran out of the Apple Crumble!

It was a quiet day so the pub was very comfortable. Service was just right and the food excellent. The very large portion of apple crumble and custard was delicious but defeated us!

We are fans of The Papermakers but were disappointed on this occasion. Although required to commit to a no-show charge, I do not feel the business met its side of the bargain. We did not take long to finalise our order but by just after 7.15pm the top 3 choices were exhausted and off the menu. Last resort for me was the fish and chips but sorry to say the fish was overdone, the batter hard and dark brown and the fish inside was dry. We will return but probably better outside peak demand periods.

Delicious food, lovely cosy restaurant with very attentive service. We really enjoyed our meal that was perfectly seasoned. The menu isn’t massive, but that’s a good point in our opinion. Portion sizes were spot on and there’s something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Service was excellent and food was served quickly and was very tasty. I recommend this restaraunt which is roomy and light and airy. The local beer was also tasting very fresh and flavoursome. Couldn't fault anything.

The Papermakers used to serve excellent food, but sadly, not any more. It used to be hard to get a table but there were only 3 occupied last night! The Chilli Prawns were so hot that they could only be eaten with the sauce scraped off! The Thai Green Curry had no curry flavour let alone Thai Green curry flavour. It tasted liked chicken in a mild creamy sauce. The service was very good, but with only 3 tables you’d expect it to be. Such a shame that this once wonderfully eatery has gone so off the boil. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.
