Papermakers Arms is a country pub oozing rural charm & rustic character, set in the picturesque village of Plaxtol. Offering the finest British food locally sourced (wherever possible) from quality suppliers, this impressive destination pub serves the heart of the community as well as visitors from further afield. The seasonal menus are complemented by carefully selected cask ales, a superior list of fine wines & an extensive gin menu many of which are produced locally.

The pub has a lovely feel. Larkins draft on tap and good selection of wine. Starters very tasty especially the tomato and Mozilla, mains Thai Green curry and Chicken supreme enjoyed very much too. Service was great being attentive without being pushy and we were allowed to linger over our coffee. An enjoyable evening.

Papermakers Arms was a nice pub with great staff. However our roast beef was disappointing as the beef was very chewy and hard to cut. The green beans were also on the hard side. The Basque cheesecake was nice but on the large side and the separate crumbs were unnecessary.

Lovely food .. cheesy leeks were a most welcome surprise.. thank you. Waitresses were friendly, attentive and helpful in making good food decisions.

We had a meal at the same venue last September the food and service was outstanding. We were very disappointed with our experience this time. Starters were good, but both the mains were very poor, food obviously not cooked fresh, meat arrived cold, fries cooked more than once, hard and not edible. Service not good, left waiting in an almost empty restaurant. We had to order our own drinks and when the order was finally taken items ordered were missing when the food arrived. Quality of the food not good

Staff were so welcoming and helpful. I wanted a Sunday roast but without meat, as I’m not a big meat eater. It was no problem, they put my meat on my companions plate and we took the rest home for the dog! The food was delicious, fresh and tasty and a great selection of vegetables. We have been here several times and will definitely be back.

Excellent meal and service - the only problem was vulgar people in the bar f’ing and blinding loudly without consideration for guests in the restaurant area.

Cosy restaurant area with a friendly welcome and attentive service. Food was well served and prepared with fresh ingredients. Well priced for the quality offered and we will return.
