Nothing could be more convenient, other than an overnight stay here at the Hyatt Carmel Highlands where you could walk to your room after dinner.

Enjoy the vocal stylings of Dino Vera in the Lobos Lounge every Saturday night from 7:00pm until 10pm and Tuesdays from 5:00-9:00. Peer at the wildlife on Bird Rock at Point Lobos through the ship's telescope in the corner, then drop the lens and join the party, dancing to tunes such as "Great Balls of Fire," one of their more raucous covers that always seems to get everyone up and dancing in merriment.

    Great view and good food, but the service was not good. Staff was friendly, but it took way too long to get our food. Over an hour before I food arrived.

    The best part about this experience was the view. The server seemed to not care about us, we had to flag a busser or server down every time we needed help or to order. The avocado on the avocado toast was hard as a rock, bread wasn’t even toasted. It felt very lazy. Very expensive for very mediocre food. Beautiful view of the ocean though, worth it only for that.

    This fine restaurant has lost a little of its "edge," as it undergoes renovations. Much of the allure of the place was the wonderful ambience and views inside the dining room. The relocation of the dining area during renovations has eliminated much of that. It also seems to have taxed the service staff, who were slower than usual. The presence of a band, although a nice touch in some venues, seemed a little out of place in a fine dining establishment and was loud enough that it interfered with quiet dinner conversation.

    Our waitress was very rude on Saturday, February 15. I was with a party of four. I am a local, fourth generation Carmel family. I ordered a grilled cheese (with avocado, tomato and onion) sandwich because I am a vegetarian and do not like the impossible burger. She looked at me funny when I gave her my order and “Ok”. Our food took 45 minutes to get to the table. She announced to our table it was all my fault because of my order. My sandwich was not cooked. They gave me toasted bread with cheese in the middle. When I told the waitress my sandwich was not cooked. She said “well we don’t have a broiler to melt the cheese” and walked away. When I came in about 6 months ago and ordered the exact same sandwich, it was perfectly grilled with no problems. Did the cook that day not know how to cook a grilled cheese in a pan? Very disappointed with the experience on Saturday but still paid almost $30 for my cheese sandwich!

    Food and service were excellent. View during daytime is breathtaking. A much needed respite on crowded weekends. We were thrilled.

    The food was terrific and the view is outstanding. I had the special soup, vegan butternut squash with pepitas and it was yummy. For dinner I ordered the short rib because I always order short rib if it’s on the menu. It was very good. And nothing beats the view from the dining room looking out over the ocean as the sun goes down. It was a great experience.

    We dined here before and had a nice experience. Last night was not a good experience. It was a bit busy, but not overwhelming. We were seated quickly, but then waited about 15 minutes for some water. When a waiter came by he asked us for our dinner order and we had not even ordered drinks. We waited another 10-15 minutes before my husband went to the bar and got our drinks. As my husband was returning to our table with drinks, the waiter finally came over to ask me if I wanted a drink. When our shared appetizer was delivered, I had to ask for some plates as the wait staff was walking away. When our dinner finally arrived the waiter asked two other tables if it was their entries before it was delivered to our table. Both entries were average at best. Definitely not worth the high price. We both walk out of the restaurant disappointed and unhappy. If a restaurant is high end the service and food should reflect that. Both were subpar.
