The crown jewel of the hotel, our rooftop restaurant Overlea (meaning, “over the meadows”), is a stunning open concept space with horseshoe bar, floor to ceiling windows, and breathtaking views of historic Newmarket. The menu is a celebration of seasonal simplicity created by Chef Jon Turner. With terraces on each side complete with greenery, lounge furniture and fire tables, Overlea is the perfect place for a quiet escape into an evening of the unknown. Was really excited to try this place as downstairs at the Lobby the food was great. We ordered a super overpriced peaches and ricotta appetizer which ended up just being raddichio and oil.. basically 2 drops of ricotta and 3 thin peach slices. Total rip off, we complained and they “re made it” only for it to be basically the same thing and we were still charged full price for it. The martinis were good, but the menu in general was sparce and main dishes were super expensive for what you get. Disappointing experience overall.

Our meal was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant is well laid out. Our only negative was that it was just too loud and we had to yell at each other to be heard.

Great food and wonderful service. It’s nice to finally have a high quality restaurant/bar in Newmarket. And the views are a bonus!

A great new fine dining experience on Main St., Newmarket. The enclosed rooftop restaurant, wrapped with patios offers beautiful vistas. A few kinks being worked out. Service staff very friendly but too long a wait between appetizer and entree. We did not have dessert and we were at table 2 1/2 hours on a quiet Wednesday night. Prices a bit high for entrees, appetizers on par with downtown Toronto.

Ambiance was top notch. Beautifully done and the decks are great place for a cocktail around the fire tables before dinner. The restaurant is new and getting the kinks out. Server kept taking my bread side plate (twice). I put some.oil and balsamic on there but when I took some bread, plate was gone. Wine list is heavy weighted on the low end of the spectrum and assume this will fill out with more options over time. Other little things can be done better. Example- asked for pepper and was given a breakfast diner style shaker. A fresh pepper grinder seems more like the way to go.... all in all very enjoyable and will go back.

Such a great new place for Newmarket with great views. Needs some work on the menu. I had the Halibut and it was overcooked and dry but willing to try again as it’s such a nice place to hang out

The ambience and aesthetics are absolutely the best I’ve seen in Newmarket. However, we were completely underwhelmed by the food and service. The staff weren’t sure who ordered what dish and couldn’t confirm the cook on the proteins before placing dishes in front of us to sort out ourselves. The food was okay, but definitely expected more flavour at this price point. Overlea definitely has what it takes to be a top notch restaurant in the city, but there are many kinks to iron out until then.

We shared the venison carpaccio to start, which was delicious and the right size for sharing. For mains we chose the duck breast and the halibut. Both were prepared and plated beautifully. We topped off our meal with the deconstructed lemon meringue pie and two cappuccinos. All in all it was a very pleasant evening. The wait staff were very knowledgeable, and helpful in guiding our selections. We found the over all ambience to be very nice. The decor is tasteful and the chairs comfortable. We did find the noise level was quite high though, making conversation challenging at times. However, as the evening progressed and diners were eating, the noise level decreased. Its fine dining, in a comfortable setting with views of the the town and the trees. All in all a lovely dinging experience. We will go back.
