We went to the Ovalon 44 years ago. Met old friends there recently. Food was mediocre in quality, staff seemed overwhelmed at times. Service was spotty. We waited for dessert quite awhile and they forgot one dessert. Prices are reasonable but the quality is not there. Homade cavatelli were gummy. Veal chop was fatty. If you wouldn't serve it to your Grandmother.... I'm afraid they're resting on their laurels. Mezze Mezze Bob Robbins

Excellent food and service. The atmosphere is especially great, very comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed every aspect of our dinner, looking forward to going there again. Truly excellent experience!

Appetizers of sardines & fig toast were great. Swordfish &Salmon piccata were dry. Grilled chicken salad special was dry and overcooked and the squash vegetables were inedible with bitter flavors and overly burnt butter and mushy. Overall very very disappointing

Great date night food n service were outstanding Amber our server was a 10 and Karen the bartender makes the Best drinks. Thx girls. We will be back soon

Place smells musty. Waited at least 20 minutes to be waited on. 1 salad was wrong, but we said nothing. Brussels sprouts were mushy. Food wasn’t horrible, but not great either.

Italian weeding soup was greasy. The grilled sandwiches were always excellent with the bread light and airy and a crispy crunch. The last few times the bread was soft and mushy and grilled bread more like toast. The French fries were undercooked and a greasy mess. I will be taking a break from this restaurant for a long while. Hopefully their standards will get back to where they were, and the paying customer gets a meal like before.

My wife and I ,and much of our family, have been coming to the Ovalon for more than 40 years but we have not been back for a while. Kathy's birthday was on Saturday and I had suggestions for several fine dining restaurants for her. She chose the Ovalon. Great choice. We reserved for 6:30 and arrived 5 minutes early to have a drink at the bar and were then seated in a both ( we had our choice of a booth or table) We were surprised on how few patrons were there for a Saturday night.We split the Mussels Sambuca as an app. We love mussels and this different preparation was great..a unique flavored sauce. We both opted for the 10 oz. veal chop, mine Calabrese , hers Piccata. Both were outstanding. The only disappointment was the "seasonal vegetable" that came with our dinners. Green beans were the only choice. She HATES green beans ( its a long story from her childhood) but I enjoyed mine. We both has pasta with red sauce. I made Happy Plate and my wife ate half of her chop, taking the rest home , along with the beans for me. Noting that it was her B'day, our server, Ryan, offered her a complementary dessert. She had a cherry cheesecake , which I sampled . Very good. BTW, Ryan is so young looking that we thought he was a teenager but he said he is 20 and has worked there five years, busing tables, then kitchen work, etc. He was pleasant and attentive. Prices were significant but well worth it. We dropped $138. which included a drink each at the bar , a glass of wine each and tip. We left full and well pleased.
