Brought my wife here for a birthday dinner (first visit) The place is beautiful & the view is spectacular. The rest of the experience had potential, but needed strong improvements in training. The food was okay, but far from the top of the game in Japanese food, even just for Pittsburgh, while being priced at the very top. Service was challenging, drinks were poor. The entire visit cried out that the place could be so much more.

The research I did panned out...the food was fresh, served temperature perfect with care and great info on what we weee eating. Penny was a well informed server. We will be back and tell others on the spot.

We love Japanese food and the presentation of the food and the ambience of the restaurants. OTARU lived up to most of those ideals except for the infant screaming at the top of their lungs every so often. Parents should either control their infants or if that’s not possible then they should not bring them to this kind of restaurant where you expect a peaceful experience.

Sushi was excellent. Very fresh. Waygu and Eel was deliciiusly prepared. Udon beef was good, not exceptional. Service was great. Angie was very knowledgable and patient as the menu can be a bit confusing. Great place for sushi and of course with stunning views of the city from atop Mt Washington.

Garrett was incredible. The view is beautiful. The space is beautifully designed. Food was phenomenal. Sushi was delicious, fresh, overall just a great experience. Highly recommend

We went for our anniversary and sat at the sushi bar. Great views. Good ambiance. And the quality of the sushi was stellar- we have been looking for a good sushi spot in Pittsburgh and so far this is the best. The service was nice, but definitely had some longer waits. They did bring us a nice anniversary cake with a message, which was really sweet. Overall great
