It was the final meal of a long, busy weekend in Boston, and it turned out to be exactly what we needed. From the vast selection of delicious mocktails to the rich and flavorful decaf coffee, we were utterly smitten. The meal began with a bread course: a petite loaf of sourdough paired with a small dish of olive oil, topped with a dollop of butter. Simple perfection. My wife and I love to share courses, and while this can sometimes pose a challenge, it was seamless tonight. The toasted brioche that accompanied it was probably the least memorable part of the evening, but it hardly mattered. Next, we enjoyed the Metze salad course, featuring a special arugula salad dressed in heavenly truffle oil and a crisp shaved snap pea salad with a delightful vinaigrette. For the main course, we shared the lobster. It was served in a light consommé, perfectly prepared and ready to eat, with two butter options for dipping (though it hardly needed them). On the side was a medley of roasted vegetables and puréed squash, a dish so satisfying it could have stood alone. For dessert, we chose sorbet: two scoops of coconut yuzu and one of apple cider. The latter tasted like apple pie, offering the perfect blend of flavors to conclude the meal. It was a perfect, leisurely dining experience. I took my husband to Ostra for his birthday, and it was fantastic! The food was delicious, the staff very attentive, and the atmosphere relaxed. We parked in the garage across the street which was very convenient. The crispy native oysters were the best we’ve ever had. I really enjoyed the grilled sea bream, and my husband loved the paella “Valenciana style”. Our knowledge waiter recommended wine that paired perfectly with our meals.

The food was excellent, however the service was not. We had dinner there, and throughout the meal the service was extremely slow. After dinner, we went to the bar and had a drink. When we went to order a second drink, we were informed that last call had already happened, however no one informed us that it was last call. When we asked the bartender, he said that he was supposed to inform us but did not. Overall very disappointing end to an excellent meal.

Bar staff was amazing. The teamwork was flawless and they were just incredibly pleasant people. Food was immaculate as always. A perfectly cooked Fillet and the delicious lobster made the night. In and out quick as we had a theatre show.

The meals at Ostra are always excellent. We would normally give five stars for the whole experience, but a Calamari failure this time brought down the score. Don’t let this dissuade you: the calamari was an anomaly.
