Welcome to Osteria Nonnino, a family-owned Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of New York, where the West Village meets the Meatpacking District. Founded by Restauranteur and Chef Tony Kavaja, who grew up in the north of Italy, Lanzo Di Torino. Together with his wife, Vita Russo, from the charming south of Italy, Villagrazia Di Carini, Sicily.                                                                   It was a nice place, popular and you can tell why. We had to wait 20 minutes for our reserved table and they gave us a complimentary drink for the wait which was nice but the experience was hugely rushed and felt like they didn’t want us there. After we declined dessert, they gave us some more bread and after one bite it was taken away and replaced with the bill we hadn’t asked for yet. Just wasn’t what we’d hoped overall. Food was fine but didn’t outshine the generally average experience.

                                                                  This was our 2nd time there. As we expected, we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. We will keep going anytime we get. I have suggested this restaurant too many of my colleagues when they come into town.

                                                                  Food was just fine, maybe a bit over salted but what stood out to me was the foot long hair I pulled out of my mouth from the Cesar salad. I didn’t appreciate the server commenting that the hair was blonde and they don’t have blonde kitchen staff. I’m a short haired guy, so I know it wasn’t my hair. He did ultimately apologize and removed it from the bill, but it definitely tarnished the experience.

                                                                  The owners understand the hospitality industry. They view the entire dining experience as a canvas to be filled in. First comes the ambiance brushstroke. Tables, lighting, Pompeii brick wall, and every holiday is treated with beautiful tasteful decorations. Next is the service brushstroke. An army of attentive workers cater to your every need, dining specials, drink orders, bread basket, boom, boom, boom, or should I say, in keeping with the painting analogy, brush, brush, brush. Finally, and most importantly, the food brushstroke. We ordered the insalada cesare, pollo al funghi, the pollo parmagiana, and lava cake for dessert. The best meal we ever enjoyed! Masterpiece complete! Un milione di grazie!

I took pesto pasta which was really tasty but I mentioned a special request while making reservation but they completely ignored it and I also asked them in person then too they didn’t answer on it. It was a little noisy and small space so you can’t find privacy at all even to speak.
