Osteria del Pastaio, specializes in traditional Italian Cuisine. Our menu reflects the culinary team’s passion for using only the freshest ingredients. Our Artisan pastas are made daily, our breads are baked fresh each morning, our seasonal desserts and candies are hand-made. Our soups are all from vegetarian stock and whenever possible our produce comes from local organic farmers. There were some scary reviews but none of that happened. Great service, great food, the chef is SO nice and brought everything to the table. Cups were always filled and we were always checked on. Dinner for 2- we shared: the focaccia, fried calamari, caprese salad, pasta tossed in the wheel of cheese, with a a side of Brussel sprouts and side of Shrimp. It was all AMAZING! Added some pics of what we remembered to photograph before eating.

Horrific experience. Waiter (Christopher, I think?) told my father (who did NOT even pay for the meal, I did) that our tip was not enough and demanded more money. Stormed off. The female waiter at the time also decided to join in on the hustle. Bad service. Okay food. Not worth the $187 ticket

The food and service was great! We tried the cheese wheel pasta and it was delicious. Dessert was good too!

Overall this place was okay, I think there is way better Italian food options in the city. We ordered the pasta cooked in the cheese wheel and that was why I gave it a higher rating because it was soooo good, huge portion, and the guy doing that service was friendly and a pleasure to talk to. We also ordered the focaccia and calamari…which was not that great. The focaccia came out as a loaf of bread and was a little stale. The calamari honestly tasted like it came from a freezer section bag, but the sauce was very good and helped. Our actual waitress was terrible, and really brought down the vibe. I didn’t even get her name but she was an older white lady with blonde hair and glasses. As she was taking our order, she wasn’t even paying attention, was looking around the restaurant, and then had to have us repeat ourselves. She was very cold and rude, and constantly made the bus boys bring out our food, drinks, any thing that we needed. I wanted to tip them instead!

Overall a nice nice. Very good service. The pasta made in the cheese wheel was fun. Overpriced for what we actually had.

Second time dining here while visiting Chicago. We had the house special cheese wheel truffle pasta last time a couple of years ago but did not this time. The duck pappardelle was absolutely wonderful. Their version of Casio Pepe is not authentic and seems to have a lot of butter but was quite good. Large portions. Setvice very good but perhaps slightly understaffed. I would recommend this restaurant for really good fresh pasta.

The experience was wonderful. We had a group of 9 and each enjoyed their food and drink. Our wait person Jorge was excellent. Always there to help but never rushed any of the meal.
