Growing up in Italy, my family cooked at home and had the most extraordinary experiences with ingredients grown in our backyard, paired with the wines my chef/restaurateur stepfather would bring back from regions throughout Italy. I fell in love with food as a child watching my stepfather, once nominated a top chef in Italy, work in restaurant kitchens and floors. Moving to California in 1991 and subsequently to Santa Monica and experiencing the Farmers Market inspired me to start Orto - Italian for “vegetable garden” - where I meld local ingredients and organic herbs grown here at the restaurant to create traditional Italian recipes. At our bar you’ll find a cocktail list created from fresh herbs and premium spirits, and our wine list focuses on sustainable and organic producers. Andrea Inio

We love truffles and we found the PLACE! We had the truffle filet and the tagiolini pasta in the wheel, WOW! Thanks for the delicious food and warm service. We will tell our parents and take them out for their anniversary here.

The place can use some loving tender care but it's ok, just too dated. The staff is friendly, some servers are great, some others not that much. Portions are small for it's prices. Food could use more Italian flavor. Pasta needed to be cooked better for the cheese wheel preparation. The steak was cooked a bit over the temperature ordered. Desserts were too sweet and really needed more kick, too blend for my palate.

Dinner with my boyfriend and his mother who came in out of town. We had such an amazing time, the service was exceptional and the food delicious. We licked our plates! My boyfriend is gluten-free and I dabble. I can say their gluten-free pasta was just as comparable to their regular pasta. Very delicious and cooked perfectly. We had the specials, fish with a delicious butter sauce and cheesy pasta with truffles. Something tells me, you can never go wrong with the specials here. All in all can't believe we haven't been here before, that will certainly change.

Truly, the food was incredible. The truffle pasta was absolutely the masterpiece of all the dishes. For the price of the plate with truffles was extremely reasonable. The owner was even working with the staff and making sure the ambience was great. We HIGHLY recommend coming here! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Orto has always been spot on with quality and service. It's a great place to check out if you like a local, high-end restaurant experience without the high fees. The team did an exceptional job for our get-together.

What a beautiful restaurant! The stone wall and olive tree bring you to the Mediterranean sea, and the food definitely is 100% Italian, we will be back.
