I live in Sacramento and every time we go to San Francisco Original Joe’s is always a must do for my wife and myself. Today we had friends fly in from Seattle and we took them to Original Joe’s and they loved it. As always the food and service was outstanding.

Best to snag a reservation at Original Joe’s as they can get really busy. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu; the butter cake for dessert is a must.

We had a reservation for 7pm and checked in around 6:40pm. The restaurant was packed, but the three hostesses were friendly and tried to accommodate everyone. Our reservation was for the chef's counter, but unfortunately, there were two couples seated at the counter and they were not sitting together, with one seat between them. This made it difficult to seat anyone else. Even after 7:30pm the couples were still there taking their time! One of the hostess tried to seat us as we had been waited over 30 minutes, but another hostess said no and called the restaurant manger, Christopher. He came over and explained the situation, I informed him that we had been waiting for over 30 minutes despite having a 7pm reservation. Christopher immediately apologize and said "Let me see what I can do" and shortly after, he moved the two couples closer together to make room for me and my husband at the chef counter. Christopher was fantastic-He was very observant, proactive, and ensured that every customers are happy and left the restaurant satisfied!!! Christoper truly worked magic and was an outstanding manager at The Original Joe's San Francisco.

We had an early Saturday evening reservation during Fleet Week with massive crowds in San Francisco. We were seeing a show nearby. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation, and the place was jammed. After about 10 minutes, the Captain or manager, in an amicable manner, seated us at a lovely table. The bus person arrived with water, bread, and butter, and our server in quick order to take our drink orders. The server said things would be slow because of the crowds but checked back on us to ensure we were OK. Our food arrived in a decent amount of time, even with the crowds. I had a steak with a substitute for green beans. My wife had short ribs. We shared their famous butter cake for dessert. Both meals and the dessert were perfectly prepared and delicious. This was my first visit to this location, having visited their Westlake location many times. The food, the service, and the ambiance harked back to another time of attention to detail and a tremendous dining experience.

Food was fantastic and we had the best service we have had in a very long time. This in spite of Fleet Week crowds and Saturday night merry making.

We love this place! The food was delicious and service was fantastic. We love the ambiance even though it is a bit loud. We will be back!

My favorite restaurant in the city. Excellent menu and service. Spicy rigatoni and butter cake is a must. Great place for a special occasion or no occasion.

I was excited to try original Joe’s,but was disappointed. The service was good and the place is clean but food was just ok and pasta for an Italian restaurant was really below average. I didn’t try their steaks though. I mentioned that we are celebrating a birthday and we left without celebrating.

My family had a fabulous birthday dinner. We are native San Franciscans…and going to Joe’s anywhere in the city is consistent in value, quality and service. For three generations, this family has found the right balance that keeps us snobby city folks happy!
