Orelle is a modern French restaurant located on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore Row, situated in the heart of the city’s business district and comprises a restaurant, cocktail bar, all-day café and terrace.

The name Orelle draws inspiration from the French words for gold (or) and her (elle). It is also the name of a French mountain village.

Orelle offers 360-degree, panoramic views across the city and beyond. Open for lunch and dinner, Orelle will serve a menu featuring both classic and modern French dishes. The small but beautifully designed bar will offer both classic and innovative cocktails, all expertly crafted by some of Birmingham’s best mixologists.

The place is beautiful. However the service is a lot to be desired. This is the third time I have been in the hope that over time it will have improved, but it is still not great. Shame, as it is such a beautiful place, food is good (when they get it right). It’s the staff that unfortunately ruin it, they look as though they are forced to be polite. I won’t go into detail but when a dish is not made correctly, the accommodation in relation to getting it wrong, should be handled with a little more apology and a smile! We took the service charge off as a result. As a result of taking the service charge off, the lady coming out with a ‘happy birthday’ treat was returned to the kitchen just before she reached our table… we were too full for the little treat anyway, but that is poor, it was so obvious why the lady was told to turn back, no recognition of it being a birthday celebration, not even a ‘hope you enjoyed your birthday meal’. If the dish was made incorrectly and one of us was left eating whilst the other person was waiting for a new dish, we had every right to remove the service charge, the situation could have been rectified by the dish being taken off the bill, it wasn’t. We never remove a service charge, however we felt it was appropriate to on this occasion, it is a little childish to return the bday treat as a result and not even recognising the celebration verbally. Do better.

Arrival - we asked if we could have pre drinks and sit in the bar area wasn’t served after 10 mins so asked if we could go into dinning area as our dinning time had started. On arrival room was cold and we asked if air con could be turned down which is was, the temperature was not inviting. Food - was tasty but cold there was not enough gravy and when we asked for more the waiter just came out with a shot of gravy. No sauces were offered and we had beef and pork which was a shame. Wine on the table the waiter keep coming over and topping us up it was too much had to ask for he to stop as felt rushed. Overall - disappointed and would not go again for Sunday lunch.

I picked Orelle as a surprise birthday treat for my husand and it delivered more than I could have hoped. The service was excellent amd attentive, the food absolutely divine and the view across Birmingham fascinating. Would highly recommend

I booked the restaurant for a special occasion, the location and views were lovely, however the food was dissapointing sadly…the portion size was extremely small and the selection of halal or veggie food was extremely limited…the cost of the dishes and drinks was not worth the tiny portions…we returned home only to have another meal to actually eat something substantial. Sad to write this review. Would recommend for drinks with a view.

The setting is fantastic with mood lighting, impressive floral display and absolutely stunning views over night-time Birmingham. The food was stunningly presented and overall absolutely scrumptious. Staff pleasant, attentive & professional. We arrived at 7.00 and commented to each other that although the dining area was pretty full, lively and very busy it was easy to chat and hear each other (an important feature of a successful dining experience). However, at 9.00 this all changed with the arrival of a DJ in the neighbouring bar with the constant thumping of loud disco type music which from then on made it difficult for us to hear each other. Our waitress said other diners had made similar comments on other occasions. Would strongly suggest management rethink this aspect of the Orelle experience. As things stand I would be unlikely to return to the venue which from all other aspects would be a shame
