Meaning “goldsmith” in Italian, Orafo brings a tradition of craftsmanship to every dish and cocktail while paying tribute to San Francisco’s Gold Rush past. From fresh-made pastas, to locally sourced seafood and dishes made for sharing, the menu features Italian classics expressed through California’s bounty of local farmers and purveyors. Orafo is located on the Lobby Level at Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero.

Situated in the heart of the FiDi, Orafo's proximity to businesses, along with its quiet and private ambiance, provides an ideal setting for a productive business lunch. Our Executive Lunch offers a seasonal two-course menu for $40, available Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thought a restaurant at a four seasons hotel couldn’t go wrong but it did in so many ways. Waiter recommended sea bass which was a special which is not on the menu that night, but a trout came. I asked him how sea bass has orange flesh and he said it was fresh water sea bass (?????) and their flesh changes color depending on what they eat. It was obviously a trout. He just didn’t want to admit his mistake. He also highly recommended carbonara and it was the worst carbonara I had which had an over $30 price tag. We ordered a half bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was at$37 and he gave us $60 half bottle of something else. We didn’t read the label and found that out when we got the bill. Broccolini was blend. The only thing that was good was mushroom arancini. Total was around $200. It may have been an off night, but we had to pay high price nonetheless.

Overall good, but the service was slow (despite us clarifying when we arrived that people could dine by 12:45 there were plates that came out at 12:41). Food was tasty and staff were pleasant.

Decent food and good ambiance but the service was lacking. Staff interrupted conversation regularly and food came out at different times for a larger party which meant many were waiting too long to start eating. Likely well not come back.

I recently dined at Orafo and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and the quality of the wine selection. The staff was attentive, professional, and truly made the experience enjoyable. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food, particularly the main dish. I ordered the fettuccini with shrimp (which normally comes with mixed seafood, but I requested only shrimp). While I appreciate the restaurant’s modern, local take on Italian cuisine, the dish missed the mark for me. The pasta felt unusual and lacked the traditional Italian flavor I was expecting. As a result, I couldn’t finish it, and my friend ended up eating it for me. I left still feeling hungry, which wasn’t ideal, especially considering the high price point. Overall, while the service was top-notch, the food didn’t meet my expectations for an Italian restaurant.
