Opera Tavern is a beautiful two-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of central London’s theatre land. Located on Catherine Street we are opposite the Drury Lane Theatre, seconds from the Opera House, a stone’s throw from The Strand and a lovely walk across Waterloo Bridge from the South Bank.

A beautiful former pub, the exposed brickwork, bold artwork and flattering low lighting help our two-story restaurant create the perfect atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal or drink. The ground floor houses a long bar with the open grill at one end, and a few tables placed beside the theatre box windows, where guests can watch the world go by.

We specialise in Italian and Spanish influenced tapas and have a charcoal grill on the ground floor where we cook up all manner of stunning small plates.

Conclude your dining experience on a sweet note with our highly sought Churros with Citrus mascarpone and chocolate sauce. Head's chef tasting menu is subject to seasonal changes.

Great food, delicious, cosy atmosphere, friendly but proffesional service. Each dish is so different and amazing. Each ingredient matters. Loved it.

Had last minute changes but restaurant was very accommodating. Service was good and friendly, enjoyed all our dishes. Some delay with dishes as the crowd arrived but we were kept informed and offered rose for wait! Would definitely return especially for pre- theatre.

I am never disappointed with this little gem of a place. Great service from lovely staff and the most delicious food outside of Spain! We had the head chef’s tasting menu and it was absolutely superb; great flavours, high quality ingredients and good value. Another fantastic evening at my favourite Covent Garden eatery, thank you!

Very friendly environment, the waiter has been really nice. He explained all the menu to us and how to make the best choices . The food average. Tortelloni completely uncooked and the shrimps overcooked. All food really overpriced.

The food selection and quality has continued to improve with each visit over the past year. The portions are not large, but 3 small plates/person makes a very nice meal. This time the meal was the best yet.

The atmosphere is dim, mysterious and romantic, however the food did not live up to the expectation.
