Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Avec sa salle au style disco, son papier peint fantaisiste aux motifs marins et ses lampes vintage des années 1970, le Hideaway d'Oma est une escapade maximaliste imaginée par l'équipe du célèbre restaurant Gado Gado. Le remarquable menu inspiré de l'Asie du Sud-Est est un hommage à la grand-mère du chef Thomas Pisha-Duffly, nommé aux James Beard Awards, et à la street food de la région. Commencez par des jello shots maison fruités agrémentés de boba à la mangue avant de déguster des plats incontournables comme le wonton mee (nouilles jaunes à la poitrine de porc) et les frites au jaune d'œuf salé et au curry.

Had the best meal here! Our server was a hoot and gave us incredible recs! We truly loved everything we ordered from food to drinks. Love love love Oma’s!

Basically had to order everything on the menu (as usual) because everything sounded so good. Highlights are the roti, curry and wontons. The back "outside" patio was lovely. Different vibe than inside, but still very fun. Cocktails aren't to be missed! BTW- if you miss the artwork at THB, check over the bar at Oma's!!!

Such a special spot for dinner. We loved every dish - the roti canai, caramelized Brussel sprouts, grilled Chinese broccoli, raita salad, and salted egg yolk curry fries. The drinks we ordered were also delicious - the “that’s Mai Thai” and the zero proof “I am Serious.” The people who work there are all wonderful and provide a lovely environment. Highly recommend!!

Went on a date with my wife here, and it was the perfect cozy neighborhood spot to wind up at. The food was spicy but well balanced and the cocktails are next level. I've been exploring Portland more and really happy I found this place.

Amazing food and excellent service! Some of our food came out right away, then there was a bit of a wait, but our waitstaff kept us in the loop and offered complimentary Jell-O shots for the wait. Well worth the wait though, we had the wonton mee, roti, pork with coconut rice and the beef skewers. Every bite was absolutely sensational. The drinks were also superb - if you enjoy a good mai tai, the slushie was amazing. My husband is very picky about his Mai tais and he could’ve had many more! The nautical nonsense was also a delicious fun drink to share. We will be back again for sure!

First time here, and I had a great time. It was honestly a magical oasis, and I felt like I wasn't in Portland anymore.

Food was good and service was excellent but the serving sizes were small. Overall we were very happy with the portion sizes and they were all very tasty.

always such an incredible joy to go to Oma's. We took NY friends here this time, and they were just as impressed as we always are. Oma's is always a good idea!
