Few dining experiences are as revered as Omakase.
Chef Keisuke Harada was lured to Puerto Escondido from Kyoto Japan to set up Kakurega Omakase, where he carefully executes the ﬁnest ingredients into an extraordinary work of art in front of visitors. Immersed in the Oaxacan jungle and next to Hotel Escondido, Kakurega Omakase features a simple, elegant design where nature and food collide.

The restaurant was nice and the food was good although it didn’t feel truly Japanese. We had the paired menu and in our group’s consensus only 2 of the drinks really paired well, but more than that, the drinks used were common and not very high quality (Asahi and Sapporo beers, and local wines that were nothing particularly good). The worst part however and people should be WARNED IN ADVANCE, is that the restaurant is not easy to find, and you have to drive on a very bumpy dirt road after you leave the main road. The did however made several warnings that the chef was very strict on enforcing the 15 mins wait period, and to our surprise we arrived and the chef was never to be seen. The sous chef was nice, but after all the warnings, and a meal promised to be fantastic we were surprised that the chef didn’t even come by to greet the 6 guests! In brief, the restaurant fell quite short of our expectations and I am not sure it is worth the prepaid booking, or the hassle of getting there.

Una gran experiencia, imperdible si estás en Puerto Escondido. Recomiendo elegir la opción con maridaje, la sommelier y todo el equipo de cocina te hacen sentir en un ambiente relajado, como en casa.

Pésimo servicio. Hubo un derrumbe en la carretera y se negaron a reembolsar 6,700 pesos para dos personas

El día de nuestra reserva salimos con 1 hora y media de anticipación de puerto escondido. Cayó una tormenta y la carretera estaba cerrada. Intentamos llamar por más de dos horas, también enviamos mensajes a través de la aplicación y hasta la fecha no recibimos respuesta. A menos que estén en el lugar o no les impida llegar un meteorito no vayan ya que el pago es por anticipado y claramente su servicio post venta es terrible!!!!!

The service was spectacular, all the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our fellow diners were a pleasure to dine with. However overall we did feel the cost outweighed our meal.
