Made us feel welcome when we called in the day before for a drink after a walk in the area so booked the meal for the following day. We were not disappointed, very welcoming, service was excellent, good choice on the menu and food served in a timely fashion. Would recommend for lunch or dinner as all the staff we came across were great.

Dreadful meal. So sad that the brownsword group have let this once top class hotel /restaurant fall so low. We sat in the garden on a rare warm evening - it was busy. the chairs and tables were grubby / no cushions so very uncomfortable. Dead herbs on tables. So the ambience in what should be a picturesque setting was zero! Service was poor but I don’t blame the staff - there just wasn’t enough of them. There never is. The menu is dull and never changes - sausage and mash and shepherds pie on a summer menu - no salad options. The quality of the food was dire. Burger dry. Fish and chips was poor quality, mostly batter and over cooked . Sadly no one cares about this place - and it’s baffling. However They do care about their bar prices . A bottle of Prosecco is £49.50 .(!!)

The Old Swan is one of our favorite pubs. It has so much character and charm and great food and service. The pies, fish and chips are amazing. Best ever. This visit was for a Sunday roast that was also fantastic.

Stayed at The Old Swan on a Saturday and Sunday night for a birthday weekend with my husband. Lovely old pub and hotel with nice gardens and a very nice sister hotel (Minster Mill) next door which had a lovely riverside terrace area perfect for cocktails. Really enjoyed the food at The Old Swan. Had two lunches (a very generous smoked salmon and sourdough sandwich, then a half pint of prawns with spicy dip and salt and pepper squid) both of which were lovely. Also had two evening meals (rib eye steak - which was gorgeous - =and shepherds pie) and two breakfasts (eggs benedict and also eggs with potato waffle, ham and cheese). All of it was really lovely and all served by really friendly staff, even when they were under pressure and busy. Lovely gardens to sit in and the pub itself is gorgeous too. We'd definitely go back.

We had a great time at Old Swan. We played some Shuffleboard with pre- drinks which they delivered to the room for us and put on our tab. We then had a delicious 2 course meal with great service. Thanks. If we're near again we'll definitely be back.

Lunchtime menu was sandwiches only- and not good ones at that- overpriced. Two of the choices on the menu were not available and that was only at 1pm. The chairs were hard to sit upon.

Lovely old pub venue, let down by such a narrow 6-6-6 menu and then no specials board. If you don’t want vegetarian or no white fish option, then you’ve got an overpriced steak or a sausage. What no other meat option eg chicken, pork ?? Team were friendly, service was good.

Lovely food, but could do with more light choices on on the menu for lunch. I had a fish bap with chips, but it really didnt need the bap as the fish was a normal sized fish in batter cut in half in a bap. Fish and chips on their own would have been enough. Great service and lovely drinks in a lovely old pub x
