Créé en 1868, le steakhouse classique Old Homestead Steakhouse de Gotham est situé dans le quartier ultra chic de Meat Packing. Le restaurant a noué des rapports étroits avec les bouchers, afin d'obtenir un boeuf de premier choix. Vous apprécierez toujours une viande âgée de qualité. Il a remporté le Wine Spectator Award en 2006. Le restaurant propose des homards allant de 200 à 600 grammes, des sushis de thon de qualité, du saumon rouge, de la chair de crabe Colossal et des crevettes tellement grosses qu'elles sont souvent comparées à des petites bananes.

It gets overlooked a lot, but it shouldn’t. The steaks are terrific. The filet wrapped in bacon, with an excellent sauce, is a good deal if you don’t want to eat a ton. Other steakhouses have more expansive reps these days, but Old Homestead is just as good as any and is a more down-to-earth, old New York, pleasant place to dine. Seriously. The appetizers are memorable. Skip the tempting calamari and share the large wagyu meatball and baked clams. The wine list could use a few more reasonably priced and good value bottles. Even with a pricey corkage fee, the bottles we bought on our visit before this one were better and more reasonable. The staff is good. I prefer to sit upstairs, but you may get a little more attention downstairs.

One of the best NY steaks I’ve ever had - and I’ve had A LOT 😊. Mr. DR a gem and the former Phillies pitcher a fun time Miss Russia/Ukraine/Belarus very lovely.

We tried the Old Homestead after seeing that it was New Yorks oldest steakhouse. I must say I was worried as reviews were mixed on several sites. We wanted a pre-theater meal, and our server Henry kept us on track to make our show on time. We ordered 2 filets, 1 Sherry Brothers sirloin and 1 Sea Bass, all cooked perfectly and of high quality. I recommend the trio of sauces as they complement the meat. The wine list on iPad was decent, but would be easier to navigate in print. The selections were all good, we chose an Orin Swift wine which drinks well with varied dishes and palates. I would choose Old Homestead again for a special occasion dinner with friends and family.

While the food was excellent (but what I expected and standard for a steakhouse), and service was fine until near the end, our last 10 minutes were pretty horrible. After our table was cleared and we were considering dessert options, my guest noticed a drip. We looked up and it was from a small slit in the ceiling. We assumed it was AC. Within a minute or two, we had many drips and then an entire misty spray of water on the table and on us. It had a chemical smell. The waiter and hostess hurried over and spread napkins and explained the bar upstairs had been opened and someone "didn't know not to turn on the water" and this had filtered from up there. A slight apology, more an embarrassed look. And absolutely no offer to do anything - I'm not sure what I would expect, but suffice it to say we didn't order dessert and coffee, are happy this wasn't on our food - or at least we hope nothing dripped into our food before we saw the first drop on the bare table. I would've expected something other than a hurried check.

Service and ambience was quite good but the quality of the steak was not great. This is not the Old Homestead I remember in that respect.

Despite a reservation, we waited 40 minutes to be seated in a cramped dining area. The setup felt careless and uninviting, with cleanliness overlooked. For the steep prices, the experience and treatment were severely lacking. Disappointing overall. Would not go again.
