Créé en 1868, le steakhouse classique Old Homestead Steakhouse de Gotham est situé dans le quartier ultra chic de Meat Packing. Le restaurant a noué des rapports étroits avec les bouchers, afin d'obtenir un boeuf de premier choix. Vous apprécierez toujours une viande âgée de qualité. Il a remporté le Wine Spectator Award en 2006. 今日は結婚30周年記念日に訪問しました。最高のお店で最高のステーキに最高の接客でした。ポーターハウスのミディアムレアの程度が抜群です。マンハッタンを代表する他の有名なステーキハウスがちょっとミディアムに近く焼き過ぎが多い中、まさにミディアムレアの見本でプライムビーフの味も抜群でした。ただ、ちょっと塩気が足りなかったです。クリームドスピナッチもフレンチフライもとても美味しくて、ウェイターのEdgarの笑顔の接客も良かったです。ご馳走さまでした。

My wife and I each started our meal with salads. I had the Old Homestead Caesar while my wife had the Homestead Chopped Salad. They were both huge servings and excellent. We both had the Prime Rib and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The serving size was enormous and could easily serve two people. We really didn’t have room for dessert, but could not resist the New York cheesecake; perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Just a great meal and evening overall in no small part because our server, Henry. He made the night special and we hope to see him again on our next visit to NYC.

The drinks were good but expensive. The Caesar salad was a severe miss with limp lettuce and a flat dressing. The restaurant took the charge off the bill. The steak was slightly overcooked for what was ordered, but it was an excellent piece of meat. The salmon was cooked well with good flavor. The mashed potatoes were well seasoned but too smooth to have been made from scratch. Genuinely made from scratch, mashed potatoes should have some tiny lumps. If the mashed potatoes were scratch-made, they were over-processed.

Disappointing, much of the food was lacking in flavor, the steak had no seasoning to it whatsoever and was extremely bland. The appetizers were good as was the dessert, but the diners at our table said that all their food, including the fish dishes was way under seasoned and relatively flavorless. Very disappointing.

Was looking forward to this dinner for years! First time in NYC and wanted to visit the “oldest steakhouse”. While my husband’s filet was cooked medium rare, as asked for, my ribeye was well done and super tough (I also asked for medium rare.) I could barely eat it, and didn’t finish, even though I am a ribeye girl. My husband and I did share the Caesar salad, which was very good, but nothing special. The service for the price I expected to be top notch, as the high end steakhouses I am used to have amazing service. The service is probably on par with Applebees. Not saying Applebees is bad, it’s just not NYC steakhouse level. I was so disappointed because I wanted this to be a special experience. Beware, go in with low expectations. For reference our bill was $200 before tip.

A very charm full place. Old classic restaurant. It was very noisy but the food was excellent. Steakhouse was the name and that’s the reason you go there.

Steak and fish were great, as were martinis and pretty much everything else we got, except the oysters and shrimp, which were no good. Fun and delish overall!
