The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.

Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas.

There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

We booked a month in advance and requested a table by the window due to a special occasion, which was clearly requested on the special instructions area when booking online. The women who greets dining guests on the restaurant entrance couldn’t care less that I’d requested this on the booking. The woman’s tone was rude and made us feel like second class citizens, especially when a couple of friends came in to dine, and the woman said, yes, your table by the window is ready as requested. In addition to that, a table by the window became free 5 mins after we sat down, and the woman, instead of asking if we’d like that table, seated a walk in couple that had not booked. Her disregard for our experience and lack of common courtesy shone through brightly. The table staff were great, but the experience left a very disappointing mood around the whole meal. We felt like other guests were more important instead of being as important. A very dissatisfying experience.

Arrived early to the restaurant and we were able to sit in the bar area, staff lovely and friendly, we asked about their cocktails offer which was such good value highly recommend the Passion Fruit Collins Then shown to our table in the restaurant, again staff were amazing, water brought to our table with the menus, we ordered the sharing platters 2 different ones between the 4 of us again good value plenty to eat we did order 2 sides of fries as well Staff made sure we had everything we needed and brought over any sauces we wanted we had more cocktails as 8 for £40 was such good value for money, The atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant was relaxing we didn’t feel rushed at all Would highly recommend and we will be back Thank you for a brilliant experience as first time we had been there.

Had booked as special celebratory meal on holiday. Poor service, made to feel we weren't ordering enough. View spoilt by scaffolding on lido opposite. Very cold due to air conditioning. Food mediocre - very oily. Mocktails very disappointing. Would not recommend or go again.

Fabulous table in the window which made our great lunch even more special. It was my friends first visit and she was blown away by the quality of her meal - she had the oysters and how cheery and helpful the staff team were. I’d recommend the Sunday roasts as well they’re delicious as are the afternoon teas. You can tell I’m definitely a huge fan!

Another lovely visit to Ocean View. Meal was super. It was the new menu. Such a great menu. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful.

The food was very good, the only problem we had was we ordered three roast dinners, two lamb and one beef. The meats on all three plates were very fatty and quite chewy. I did not complain at the time because the rest the dinner was very good and the deserts we ordered were excellent. My mother in law who is ninety four found the roast potatoes hard to cut and left quite a lot of her dinner. We realise someone of her age could have problems but we have taken her out a number of times and never had no problems before.

Highly recommend for its value for money and stunning views. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and food was superb
