The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.

Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas.

There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

Fantastic roast at the Ocean Dome. Lovely staff and a great atmosphere. The views were incredible. Will definitely be back and requesting, if possible at window table next time to take in more of the views.

A great occasion. Wonderful surroundings and breathtaking views over Plymouth Sound. Delicious food served promptly and with minimal fuss. We shall be back.

We were a group of eight for a family get together meal. The starters were very nice and seven out of the eight main meals were very nice. Unfortunately, one of the main course meals was below standard. It was a chicken salad and the chicken was very tough. It was also served to the table well after the other main course meals. We should have complained but it may have spoiled it for the others in our family group. The overall experience was quite good, so we would go back in the future.

I have always enjoyed going to Ocean view, although I have never eaten there before except breakfast. I think it’s a fantastic place, but it really lacks ambience. My local pub has more ambience, this is a really lovely restaurant. There is no need to have spotlights all over the place, it was actually bothering me, because I suffer from light sensitivity. I think the reason it doesn’t feel cosy is because it’s far too bright, they were two tables with screaming kids, I don’t dislike children, I have children myself, but there’s no need to take them to a restaurant. If you can sort the lighting out, I will definitely be back, because the food and the service was wonderful. As it stands , I prefer the ambience of the bottling plant. It feels cosy and the lights are perfect. My local pub dim the lights and putting tea lights out after 5, such a wonderful gesture and its heaving We were 3 people, two of us over 60 my son 26

The dome yet again was great for Sunday roast, table we had was in a very noisy area (bday) but staff happy to move us with no problems . As before staff were really attentive & professional. Highly recommend

Food and service was excellent We had the Sunday roast and the food was plentiful and very tasty. The deserts were wonderful too. Everything was to a very high standard The only thing I can say is that the toilet doors need re varnishing and the toilet areas just need a little attention as they haven’t been touched since renovated. Only a small thing but it would look better if this was repaired. It was rather noisy in there today as it was busy but it was lovely to see how popular this place is with people enjoying themselves.

The Vegan roast is the absolute BEST roast I have ever had…at home or out, hands down. The portion sizes are generous, the restaurant has the most gorgeous views and the waiting staff are attentive and friendly. So glad we visited today. Have already recommended to friends as a must visit location. Many thanks for a delicious Sunday lunch ❤️

Excellent service, our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food and drink was excellent and of good value. The restaurant is beautiful. We all had a lovely evening.
