The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.

Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas.

There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

Another great evening. Fantastic to see a special menu for seafest. The mussels and the scallops were spectacular and it was great to be able to know where they came from

Whilst the service was lovely and location great (wonderful views), the food was not as good as normal. Starters were lovely but the pork and burger were not as good as expected. Disappointed with quality and not great value for money in the main.

Only one complaint, the lighting in the toilet was very poor. The toilets were good except for the lights

First time at The ocean View restaurant at The dome, our experience was exceptional. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, the food was fabulous and plenty of it, our waiter Mike was outstanding, very talkative and kind very attentive, thank you for that

Ordererd monk fish tail and this huge piece of fish came just dumped on the plate the presentation was terrible and it put me right off. Only four tables booked in a big restaurant, tells a storry. Food mediocre and over priced

Fabulous cocktail bar - the decor is stunning and the service great! Food was lovely, a little bit expensive but not a bother. We will definitely return.

The view was lovely. Service was good. The food was not great. I had fish and chips which was very greasy and nothing special. I wasn’t impressed with the range of choices. I would have liked the fish platter but it can only be done for one person. To be honest I had better lunch in the cafe side when I have had a sandwich than what I had in the restaurant. I found it disappointing. Such a lovely venue that I don’t think is being optimised.

Service was lovely, sadly the food was lacking. We enjoyed the rack of ribs and the tempura mushrooms, and the monkfish scampi. Sadly the other meals were very bland. My chicken bacon salad was so flavourless I was really disappointed. The bacon was undercooked and 90% fat. I feel crispy bits of bacon would complement the dish much better than chunks of barely cooked bacon fat. The salad claimed to be dressed but there was zero flavour. The belly pork, again could have been amazing but wasn't. I didn't know flavourless belly pork was possible until that dish. Such a shame as the views and the service were wonderful.
