The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.

Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas.

There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

Fabulous cocktail bar - the decor is stunning and the service great! Food was lovely, a little bit expensive but not a bother. We will definitely return.

The view was lovely. Service was good. The food was not great. I had fish and chips which was very greasy and nothing special. I wasn’t impressed with the range of choices. I would have liked the fish platter but it can only be done for one person. To be honest I had better lunch in the cafe side when I have had a sandwich than what I had in the restaurant. I found it disappointing. Such a lovely venue that I don’t think is being optimised.

Service was lovely, sadly the food was lacking. We enjoyed the rack of ribs and the tempura mushrooms, and the monkfish scampi. Sadly the other meals were very bland. My chicken bacon salad was so flavourless I was really disappointed. The bacon was undercooked and 90% fat. I feel crispy bits of bacon would complement the dish much better than chunks of barely cooked bacon fat. The salad claimed to be dressed but there was zero flavour. The belly pork, again could have been amazing but wasn't. I didn't know flavourless belly pork was possible until that dish. Such a shame as the views and the service were wonderful.

Went for a meal, prebooked for our wedding anniversary. Never visited before, firstly very impressed with friendly staff. Seated quickly ordered some drinks and decided on Sunday roast with desert for £25, as I could see the pass where food was put for delivery. Two choices of meat roast beef or lamb, I had lamb and my wife had beef. Started eating the lamb and it was very fatty. My wife was very happy with the beef. Then the waitress came over and asked if it was all OK. I mentioned that the lamb was very fatty, she said would I like some more to replace it,or maybe have the beef. I opted for some beef, it was promptly brought over on another plate, three rare nice looking slices, was even offered some more hot gravy. Then on to desert, wife had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and I went for croissant bread and butter pudding with cherries and custard. Very nice meal for our anniversary, will definitely book again. On departure was speaking to I think manager, by bar as he asked if we had enjoyed our visit. Told him I had issue with lamb and it was quickly rectified. He said wish everyone who had issue,raised it at the time so it could be put right. Instead of leaving a poor review. Other thing I mentioned would be good to have steak knives, brought out with roast. This would make it easier to cut fat off meat. Then I may not of had issue with lamb.

We have been several times and never had any issues before. Generally the quality and service has been great and therefore is why we come back but this time... Staff were slow and unable answer specifiv queries re the menu. Waiting staff not very attentive and waited a very long time for our deserts Quality is the meat on the roast was poor (beef) Menu changes have reduced choice

We went for an anniversary meal, this was my third visit and The Dome never fails to deliver. Everything was perfect, the cocktails, the wine, the food, the service. I even fell in love with the glasses our cocktails were served in. I wish I'd taken our servers name, she was an absolute joy, so attentive, chatty and friendly.
