The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.

Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas.

There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

We sadly ended up walking out due to no food suitable for my son as he only eats chicken. He was upset as it was my 16th birthday. I then decided to rebook they said we apologise 😔 I would of like a sorry to Samuel really but maybe I expect too much. My dear son hasn't had a family meal in 8 years due to personal reason. We love the dome and we gutted the dome is usually excellent. The waiter gentlemen couldn't really care less he was blasay. We left and rebooted for 4th July today hopefully the chicken will be available 😀 😊 yours not wanting much in life 😉

Fantastic view and wonderful food. Excellent service from Rowen. A very tasteful setting to enjoy lunch with unparalleled setting on Plymouth Hoe overlooking The Sound.

Second time I have eaten here and both times been v impressed w the food, wine list and the service. Would definitely recommend and will be back when in Plymouth again

We’ve previously had the 2course Sunday roast. But this chose by off the Al le Carte menu. I had duck & my husband ox cheek. Both delicious.

Our first visit to Ocean View was a very memorable one,not only is the view amazing the staff were lovely,they couldn't do enough for us!We had a two course meal,roast beef and a dessert,I have to say it was the best roast I have ever eaten in a restaurant!Followed by dessert and Owens coffee.We will definitely go back,I look forward to it,We will highly recommend to others!Well done Ocean View!

Booked to celebrate our daughter’s birthday as they drove down from Corsham for the weekend. What a disappointment!! My husband ordered the burger, the inside was raw still with blood so returned that and he had a chicken salad instead, croutons were stale. Son in laws salad swamped in dressing so it resembled a lettuce soup and his croutons were awful too. Then to top it all we were charged £30 for a small glass of fizz that should have been £7:50. Been here lots of times but won’t be returning, the manager and staff were very blaze about everything like it was the norm. They did not charge for my husband’s meal but this did not make up for a very disappointing experience.

I recently dined at The Dome and, unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, I was served a glass of champagne that was noticeably flat, lacking the expected effervescence and taste. The situation worsened with the main course. I ordered a ribeye steak, specifically requesting it to be cooked medium rare. To my dismay, the steak arrived well-done, to the point of being inedible and difficult to cut. When I politely asked for a replacement, the staff's response was unprofessional and condescending. They questioned my understanding of what a ribeye steak should be, emphasizing its fat content in a manner that made me feel belittled. The replacement steak was even more disappointing. It arrived completely raw and, once again, was impossible to cut. At this point, I decided to forgo any further attempts to rectify the meal and requested the bill. Overall, the combination of poor food quality and subpar customer service made for an unenjoyable dining experience. I would not recommend The Dome based on this visit.
