I was disappointed by my visit to Ocean 48. I went here with my family while all my children were in town and was very excited to try this new restaurant, as a Newport Beach local. While the food was amazing, the service had us so taken aback- we don’t plan on returning. Right off the bat we were greeted by the host, followed by his mentioning of their whopping $82 corkage fee. I understand if this is their fee, but to mention it as the first thing when we walked in the door, before we’ve even been seated, was a bit surprising. We were taken to our table to find that they had accidentally set our table for four people, when we had a reservation for five. The host then left us standing there for a few awkward minutes in the dining room, while she ran away to find someone to fix it. It was just an awkward position to be in, and there was no apologies for their mistake, which we also found a bit odd. During the meal two servers a few feet away behind some glass at the bar were staring at my daughter, whispering and laughing, which we were just completely appalled by. At the end of the meal our server came and took our bill two minutes after we filled it out- which was also just rude. We felt rushed the whole meal and overall service felt rude and impersonal which was disappointing given the price point and caliber of this restaurant.

This restaurant over exceeded my wildest dreams! From the moment I walked in it, smelled and felt like pure luxury. The beautiful glass surrounding the open kitchen, watching everybody prepare the evening’s meal was such a sight to behold. Being seated and educated on the beautiful menu by the most gracious and knowledgeable waitress. As soon as you sit down, they serve a beautifully warm skillet of bread. The menu from the appetizers, caviar, seafood, steaks and desserts is exceptional. A beautiful wine list, and the best espresso martini I have ever had. Not to mention the lavender infused warm towels handed to you after each course to wipe your hands. what an amazing experience from start to finish, cannot wait to return. 10/10

Amazing experience food was perfect. Loved the caviar. Only compliant. But not really compliant but suggestion would love a savory sour dough bread option with bre butter.

Service and food very good. Noise of room was a little loud. Chairs on hardwood floor slippery especially if you have a problem getting up and chair slides on you I changed to the booth side of table for safety. Overall experience very pleasant

We absolutely had the best time! Our server Al was incredible. I would suggest not sitting near the bar area if you are trying to have intimate conversations because it’s a little loud, but besides that it was awesome. Also, the food was amazing!

Everything was fantastic- from the moment we were warmly greeted by the host staff, the ambiance, to the impeccable service. The food was incredible; steak cooked to perfection and the au gratin potatoes are a must.

Please a point to visit this amazing restaurant! The food was on point with the top quality that sets it above the competition. Ramon made our special date night more than unforgettable. We are already planning our return asap after just one delicious dinner. Oh and the wine selection is worth the visit alone!
