The original, charismatic three-storey building, which dates back to the mid-1800s, stands proudly just over Telford Bridge on the River Wansbeck – a grand feature of the historic market town.

    Delicious as always. It was a particularly tasty breed of beef today.... you can get that one again!!!

    First time we have tried this restaurant but after good reviews from friends we decided to give it a go. It was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was busy, we were shown to our table straight away but had to wait 20 mins until someone took our drinks order which didn’t come. First courses arrived which were delicious. I had the scallops and hubby had the crab. Both dishes were well presented and were full of flavour. I received an apology and the offer of a free drink to compensate me for their error of forgotten drinks order. It was ok as by this time I was sampling the wine that had been suggested to accompany the scallops. Main courses of lamb and of cod were again well presented and cooked to perfection. For afters, hubby had cheeses and I had rhubarb and custard tart. We were both happy with our choices and again savoured the flavours. We enjoyed our experience so much (despite the mix up with the drinks) and have booked up again to dine with friends. We thought the pricing reasonable and would totally recommend this restaurant.

    This was an excellent place to eat. From when you walk in the door, the service is excellent. Food was outstanding and very tasty. All the staff were attentive without being overly fussy. Decor was very pleasant along with the ambience. Don’t hesitate to come here. Will definitely return.
