I looked at the reviews for the restaurant and decided to give it a try since they were so high. But when we got there, the smell of the old carpet and old furniture was overwhelming. I wanted to turn around and leave but we were already greeted and it would be just impolite, so we stayed. The food was represented poorly. There was nothing special about the food taste either.

We had a great time in a very nice, older quality neighborhood restaurant. A true gem! I have already raved about it to friends and they went as well and agreed, it’s a lovely, truly authentic foodie experience. I Support its commitment to quality old-school food.

My parents celebrated their anniversary with us and it was excellent. The server was the former head chef and even gave us free alcohol shot!

We returned to Nova Europa after, for no good reason, having not been there for a long time. We have put it back on our restaurant rotation. The ambience -- a quiet, comfortable, even cozy feeling place -- was great, and the service was top-notch. The food was very good. Three of us had the branzini (fish of the day) and enjoyed it. The mussels and clams appetizer was a little disappointing. There was plenty on the plate for an appetizer, and the red sauce was very tasty, but the mollusks weren't very meaty. The desserts we had, chocolate cake and creme brulee, were excellent. All around, an excellent evening. We will return.

My bacalhau (Cod fish) was delicious but my friend's French onion soup was quite salty. Also, we felt unwelcome at the restaurant when we arrived.

I took my grandmother for her birthday. This is a hidden neighborhood gem. Very authentic recipes, quiet ambiance. They do not rush you out the door, even on a Friday night. They came and sang to my grandmother and offered a free slice of cheesecake. It made her feel very special.

A favorite restaurant, we are regulars. We had Octopus ( a special) and Rockfish, Tiramisu for dessert and wine and drinks. The staff are friendly and professional. Manuel usually waits on us and he is in charge of cuisine with decades of experience but all the staff are excellent and thorough. We like the traditional continental atmosphere but it's not stuffy. No loud music ("vibe") just the real thing. A great place to relax and dine. The menu is full of classic dishes, some special menus, and classic Portuguese dishes like Calderiada, Caldo Verde and Bacalau (Cod). There are often specials not listed, and these are fine things. The desserts are great. It's a great value with many choices.
