Here at the Northbrook Arms we have created a relaxed traditional pub atmosphere in the most stunning surrounding of East Stratton in Hampshire. We are both a dog and family friendly venue, however please do let us know if you are bringing your dogs with you! I visited the Northbrook Arms with my Husband on Saturday night and firstly, I'd like to say that the setting is beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. However... on the evening we visited, they were also hosting a Wedding dinner which, we felt, effected the service we received. Service was slow and the staff were noticeably fraught (we overheard 2 members of staff having words with each other at one point, which was a little awkward). Service to the Wedding party had to come through the restaurant area where we were sat, which wasn't a problem as such but it did mean that they had to keep an outside door open, which made the restaurant quite cold. I went to close the door at one point but was asked by the waitress (politely, I might add), to keep it open as they were having to go back and forth a lot. Our starters and mains were delicious and for desert, we asked if we could have a liqueur coffee (which wasn't on the menu admittedly, but we usually find that it's something most places can do). As we were cold, we asked if we could have them in the bar area, which the waitress said we were welcome to do. However, it took quite a while for her to come back to tell us that they couldn't do liqueur coffees and by then, as we'd moved to the bar, we decided against ordering anything else to eat. To give the staff the benefit of the doubt, we believe it was only the distraction of the Wedding that resulted in the feedback we've given but my Husband and I did leave feeling as though we'd been in the way all evening. I wouldn't rule out visiting again but I'd make sure there were no other functions on at the same time :-)

Went for an evening meal with a friend and found all really lovely. Must have a fabulous chef as the food was delicious. The pub is excellent now it has been altered. E had a great time here and will definitely go again. To marks team

Excellent food and presentation. We had three very different dishes, all of which were of a very standard, especially the fish. Friendly, efficient service. Very good value for money. Will certainly visit again. Great setting.

A lovely mix of rustic old English village pub and modern restaurant. We accidentally turned up early, before opening even, but we were welcomed anyway. The food was excellent and so was the service. We would definitely visit again.

Lovely pub. Very friendly and efficient staff. Great food. We have been before and loved and I am sure we will be back.
