We visit this restaurant every time we visit DC and usually love it. We went for a celebration dinner this evening and sat outside because it was a beautiful night. There were bugs everywhere and landed all in my wine - luckily they did bring me new wine to replace. But it was terribly difficult to get any service at all! My husband sat almost the whole meal with no water and I ended up having to bring the check up myself because the waitress never returned. It’s usually a good spot but definitely disappointed this trip - not sure if we will return when there are so many great spots in the city!

The service was very good. I ordered a salad that had shredded chicken and it was very good. We started with the olive oil bread with vinegar and it was so good. I was there for a business meeting but I would recommend them for business or pleasure.

Very accommodating! We had two reservations for four tables and they were able to combine us to be a table for nine. Everyone enjoyed the food and the wine and of course the conversations.

The food at North Italia is exceptional but the service is completely lackluster. I usually dine at the Penn. Ave location because it's easy to dine when seeing a performance at the Kennedy Center. I always mention that we are on a tight schedule for instance we have 2hrs to dine when making a 5pm reso to finish and get to the show by 7:30. Essentially, everything takes too long...drinks took 15 mins and not everyone got their drink at the same time...then it's the appetizers...no one comes by to check on you and the plates sit on the table until your entree arrives. Then the entree arrives and once again, everything doesn't come to the table at the same time. So then you're left waiting and your food gets cold. Again, no one clears the table for dessert which we had to skip because it was going on 7pm and we had to leave for the theater. It's disappointing because we had two birthday's to celebrate. All in all, the vibe with service is very slow and it always feels like they are doing you a favor and no one moves with any sort of urgency. I often feel like more attention is given to large parties of 6 or more and we were a table of 5. 2 stars on service, 5 stars on food, 3 stars on ambience because the dining room is way too loud.
