Norma is a contemporary and vibrant restaurant, inspired by the food and culture of Sicily with particular emphasis on the Moorish influences of the island’s cuisine.

Norma embodies the celebrated old-school Italian hospitality and charm, taking inspiration from the grand café culture found in Sicily. Set across three floors of a characterful townhouse on Charlotte Street in London’s Fitzrovia, the first two floors are dedicated to the restaurant, with the top floor a private dining space.

Decor is impressive. Food super tasty & well presented. Service lacking. Could be a sign of the times? Unfriendly welcome (after at least 2 reminders to confirm) & told my guest was here only to be sat apart from her for 20 mins (on a different floor).

We had a lunch for two, the set menu; focaccia with figs, olives and pumpkin, then a cheese and pepper pasta, then sea bass for me and parmagiana for my wife, then granita and tiramisu for dessert. The ambience was nice, perhaps a little quiet, and the service was good. The room was nicely decorated. The meal was good, but at about £105 with no alcohol or coffee, it may be a while before we return.

We booked a 5pm table - obviously it was quiet when we arrived and we were seated at a small 2 seater booth ( we were 2 people ) moments later two customers arrived enquired about the pasta deal for £15 a head and were seated in a spacious booth for 4! Makes no sense to give a bargain hunter a big table and another guest a small table especially as our bill was over £200! We had been looking forward to dining at Norma after hearing such rave reviews - we were disappointed- the food was .... just average - we ate a lot! Octopus, arancini,a pasta course ( Cornish crab spaghetti and a ragu type pasta ) then lamb cutlets with borlotti beans can’t remover what my husband had , potatoes with truffle and dessert., we didn’t hold back !The service was friendly and charming and the dining room is very well designed. Glad we have been but would not return in a rush!

What a fantastic restaurant. Greeted very warmly on arrival and with great and knowledgeable service. Food was exceptional with an interesting varied menu. Would definitely recommend a visit - covid precautions were good with distancing, screens and hand sanitiser on every table etc.

First time to Norma and we were really impressed. We had a leisurely family lunch which we really enjoyed. We had small plates to start with the octopus and arancini real favourites. Then we had a pasta course with the Norma and crab bucatini- both delicious. Then we had bream and aubergine large plates with a tiramisu to finish! It was all so tasty the wines were nice and the service was very friendly. What a treat!

Sadly, but understandably, empty. We were greeted warmly and it seemed appreciated that we were there. Nice room(s), interesting menu, good service, well-executed food, good wine list. If there is a gripe, the menu was a little pricey. Definitely worth a visit for business, friends or romance.
