Nonna’s Italian Bistro serves up home-cooked Italian dishes and local favorites throughout the week. The wine dinner is a popular favorite, but many diners also prefer the standard dinner menu, which offers everything including starters, salads, soups and entrées.

The grilled salmon salad is particularly tasty, as is the pasta fagole and the arrabbiata, which is made with sausage, spinach and peppers. For lunch, enjoy a menu of sandwiches with themes drawn from traditional Italian-Chicago street food. The Italian beef sandwich is always a hit, but you might prefer the Italian combo with beef, sausage and peppers. There is a kids’ menu available, as well as a daily happy hour with discounted wines and snacks.

We were out celebrating our friends birthday. James took care of us. The service was excellent. We ordered the bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms as apps. They were so delicious we ordered 2 sets. The lasagna lived up to the reviews and was spiced well. It tasted like they added fennel which is key for me. The rest of the crew ordered shrimp scampi and Parmesan crusted chicken. We topped it off with cannoli and turtle cheesecake. The prices are reasonable too.

Apparently the restaurant assigns you a table and they have a 2 hour limit on each table. We arrived 25 minutes early but because “our” table had not been vacated we waited until 6:15 and it was only after we asked did we get seated within a few minutes. The front desk attendants were rude and not helpful. However, when you get back in the restaurant the wait staff is amazing!

We had a wonderful dinner at Nonna’s. 3 adults and a toddler. James our server was fantastic and we really appreciated the extra attention he paid to our son. We had the calamari, lobster ravioli, filet mignon, and pasta bolognese. All the food was delicious. The live music was also much appreciated. Can’t recommend Nonna’s enough, 10/10, we will be back.

The food and wine were excellent. We were informed when we arrived that there was a two hour maximum on the table because it was Valentine’s Day, which was fine. We did not really like our table and asked if we could be moved to a nearby table that was empty, but we were told no because all tables were booked. However, in the two hours we were there and nobody ever used that table so clearly we could have moved there. Our main server was excellent. My only complaint is the other weight staff whose job it was to hustle everybody off the tables and clean off the plates. My wife was only half done with her entrée and literally had a mouthful of food when she came by and asked if we were done and if we wanted a to go box. Talked about the bums rush

Overall, the food was very good. But in my opinion, it was also overpriced - $5 for a coke when it no more than $3.50 anywhere else?? In particular, the lasagna was excellent - lots of gooey cheese and almost enough for two people - this was a good value. Their cioppino was much better during a previous visit. This visit, the marinara sauce tasted like it came straight from a jar. It was bland, a little thick and needed a dose of chef's magic that might have brought it alive. I counted four large shrimp and three very large diver scallops. Very nice. The three or four PEI mussels were just average, but the addition of a few snow crab legs is not something that any cioppino deserves. It's impossible, and very messy in a dish like this, to try and crack them open for the measly little bit of meat in them. And it's not even worth trying to get the meat out of the smaller sections of the legs. A few sections of king crab legs or even a claw would have been much better. And if there had been a few pieces of calamari and some chucks of fish, the high price of this entree would have been better justified. Service was excellent on this slow Monday evening and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

First time dining at Nonna's and we were impressed...great food, nice wine list, excellent service from Mandy and a comfortable, and classy atmosphere. We will be back! Recommend the pasta al limone paired with the Au Contraire russian river chardonnay and the linguini bolognese paired with the Caparzo montalcino, all recommended by Mandy and we loved it!

The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall, so the parking can be tight. The ambiance was wonderful with a piano player and low lighting. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. The food was amazing, especially the garlic knots. They were light and fluffy with not too much greasy garlic taste. We did have to ask for a bread basket and I am glad that we did. The bread was so soft and very tasty. I had the Scallops with Risotto and the taste was out of this world. My only negative, would be that the hostess and other female working looked very unprofessional in tennis shoes and very casual outfits. Black pants and white top would have looked better with low heeled shoes. They both had the “slipper and sweatpants” look.

The food is outstanding; the service is attentive but not intrusive. The noise level is a bit high (go at opening time before rooms are filled with noisy patrons).
