No.1 Whitstable is a small family run, dog friendly restaurant serving an array of small & large sharing plates, steaks and the best breakfast you’ll find here in Whitstable.

Our menus are constantly changing and adapting to give our guests the best flavour combinations in each dish. We also offer a small but perfect wine, cocktail, spirit & beer menu!

We can cater for any dietary requirements just let us know when you book.

No.1 has been in Whitstable for over 2 years now and have catered for many private events and dinners.

Many times we have had an amazing breakfast at no’1. This time we went for a Sunday roast, it was just as delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and served hot. There was 6 of us dining at no’1 and nothing was too much trouble. Great food, great staff, great restaurant. Be back soon.

Lovely little restaurant with open kitchen. Great food and really obliging staff. Chef knocked up a special just for us!

We came for NYE and the atmosphere was lacking. The New Year’s Eve menu was nice some plates a little cold. And Al dishes came at once so made it hard to enjoy the dishes leisurely. The service was rushed and the staff didn’t know what the dishes were or helpful. Lacking experience and therefore was a bit disappointing

Thank you for dining with us on NYE, we appreciate all the comments you have made. We do have a young front of house team however they are trained on all aspects of the menu so should have had no problem answering any questions you had. I can only apologise if they didn’t have the answer for you. We were fully booked NYE same as most restaurants so the service can feel a little busy for the staff but this shouldn’t have impacted your dining experience. We hope this hasn’t put you off coming to see us again in the future.

Menu is great and varied until dessert which was lacking. Only 4 options given one of which was ice cream!! After such a fabulous menu this was a real disappointment. I noticed cakes on the bar which I asked about and was told that they were also an option which had not been mentioned. The cakes looked lovely but were actually dry and not very nice. This after staff seemed unsure of some of the menu items and had to check them and then clearing things away while people were still eating really let things down. Shame because the menu has always looked nice and we really wanted to try it in the evening but now we have we probably won’t bother again. Good main food but that’s about it. Disappointing but gets a 4/5 as main course food was very nice.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed our main menu but I’m sorry our dessert choices didn’t match up. As you probably saw our kitchen is only small so to offer more than 5 desserts if you include the cakes isn’t possible as well as our main menu, brunch and roasts that we serve. Saying that our desserts are always changing so I do hope that you will return and I’m sure you’ll find a dessert that works for you. As in most restaurants once the service is finished staff will either begin removing wine & water glasses on empty tables and setting up for the next day. This is standard practice in many restaurants I apologise if it interrupted your experience.

Amazing Sunday roast! We had the focaccia & pork skewers to start, they were lovely! We both had the lamb, gravy was fab & cauliflower cheese was so tasty! We will definitely be returning!

We all had a delicious and delightful dinner ! Food was cooked to perfection, served hot, off menu variations accommodated. Wine was excellent and great value for money. Service was superb . A really pleasant surprise and we left full of praise and full! The croquettes were so dreamy lol 😂
