The newest creation from the owners of the beloved Villa Azteca in Downtown Salinas (Salinas City Center), the eatery honoring the Alvarez family patriarch will open Summer 2023 in Carmel Plaza. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will have indoor dining, bar seating and a small outdoor space, serving specialty Michoacán dishes as well as other Mexican favorites, incorporating three generations of family recipes.

The food was amazing! Loved everything we had. Drinks were so good and our party of five all loved every bit of it.

Menu is very different. This is not your normal mexican restaurant. We has the shrimp bone marrow and the marrow was delicious. Paola was our server and she was fabulous. Very pricey. Ambience is nice and decor is comfortable.

Very friendly, welcoming, and inviting! Food was great, warm, brought out in a timely matter!! Staff very attentive and in it!! Definitely will be joining again!!

Weird experience, good food but small portions, specially on protein. Do not order the rib eye chicharrón.

The food is amazing. The cocktails are on point. The setting is pleasant. Top notch marks so far, but they really need to work on their waiters' training. Just lots of little errors and us waiting for drinks, the bill, tortillas, a plate. With a better waitstaff, this place will sing. ✓ Sensual cocktail Gin, white whine, champagne, blackberry, lime, simple syrup — very good balance ✓ Queso Fundido with ribeye steak, chorizo, poblano & corn with handmade tortillas — outstanding ✓ Shortrib Quesabirria — utterly delicious ▪ Aperol Spritz — as expected ▪ Spring Salad with shrimp — just not exciting, fishy shrimp

Wine list could use improving, it needed aa better selection of Red's, including aa good Zinfandel and Syrah/Shiraz. The food was excellant and I would recommend it to friends.

Food so good, we came twice in one vacation. This visit we had our 4 year-old granddaughter. It's not really suitable for children, which I knew, so I booked an outdoor table for 5. When we arrived at our reservation, the outdoor table I had specifically booked at a couple sitting at it. The only outdoor table with enough room, which I had reserved, they gave to two people. I'll say what I said in my previous review: your front of house staff needs MUCH better training. The service was a mess from then on out: no kids menu at all, missing plates and silverware, took way longer than is expected to get our food, asked for a second guacamole which never arrived, took forever to get our bill, drinks were slow to arrive, etc. Food comments: House Margarita — very nice with good balance ✓ Guacamole — very good with a nice sip of lime ✓ Queso Fundido with ribeye steak, chorizo & handmade tortillas — outstanding ✓ Frijoles Rancheros — excellent beans ✓ Carne Asada with cactus & beans — meltingly soft beef, really nice plate of food ✓ Costillitas — very nice pork ribs with a good sauce, don’t miss out on the rice. It was excellent ✓ Shortrib Quesabirria — a favorite of ours, utterly delicious ⁃ Guava Lychee Coupe — not enough balance between sweet and sour
