The newest creation from the owners of the beloved Villa Azteca in Downtown Salinas (Salinas City Center), the eatery honoring the Alvarez family patriarch will open Summer 2023 in Carmel Plaza. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will have indoor dining, bar seating and a small outdoor space, serving specialty Michoacán dishes as well as other Mexican favorites, incorporating three generations of family recipes.

    We had a great birthday dinner! The Paraiso martini was wonderfully flavorful with a kick of subtle heat on the salted rim. I had the halibut mole. The mole had amazing depth of flavor and a gentle heat. The fish was a bit overcooked and dry, but with so much delicious mole it hardly mattered. All of the sides were thoughtfully prepared and paired nicely with the entrée. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and he said they were the best that he has ever had. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free scoop of ice cream and we also ordered a slice of the tres leches cake to share. Both were very good. Our server (Guillermo?) was attentive and friendly. We will definitively be back.

    lovely quiet room. unique variety of Mole sauces beautifully plated and served.Enjoyed vegeterian and meat options along with inventive spicy mocktails and full bar.

    The short rib “white” mole was amazing. My wife had an amazing ahi dish. This is a hightenwd Mexican cuisine experience. Really high quality and nice people. Class inside too.

    The Halibut Tacos were outstanding along with the Shortrib Quesabirria. Loved the chips and three types of salsa and the Mexican Cobb Salad was fresh and delicious. Definitely will be back on our next trip come Spring.

    Traditional Mexican food elevated to the next level incorporating a wide range of customary ingredients in creative ways. A lot of effort was put into the decor and it shows, stunning set up. Will return when in town again.

    Ambiance is delightful and the restaurant has a very clean look. Food selections were delicious; sphere potatoes were yummy. The only suggestion I have for the restaurant is to ensure that the food is hot. My chicken enchiladas were warm at best and the sphere potato appetizer needed to be hot as well. Other selections we tired needed to be hotter as well. Overall, the food taste was delicious.

    We loved our food! My margarita could have been a little better (needed more lime flavor) but I switched to the pinada mocktail and it was delicious. Took a little while for each round of food to come out but not unreasonable. The food was incredible, we loved it! Very memorable food & really sweet server.

    It was a wonderful experience! The beans tasted like my grandma’s and it made me emotional because I thought I would never be able to try them again! Thank you for letting me experience my grandma’s beans again.

    Cocktails are a 10/10. You can’t go wrong with any of their cocktails! Amazing! Food 7.5/10. Got the chile relleno chefs special. We got the chile relleno- The chile was undercooked, the sauce was amazing but cold, and the crab meat was salty and dry. Besides the cold sauce not very special. Also ordered the enchiladas 8/10. Tortilla undercooked. Sauce flavor pretty good Potato spheres were great but missing chorizo, didn’t taste much of it except the potato. Chips and salsa are a bit pricey $18 but the salsas are really good but no spice at all. Should have a kick for a Mexican restaurant Beautiful restaurant and great ambiance
