Made reservations 2 weeks ago and requested INSIDE …. But had to be outside …tables were full inside !!!!! What is the point of notes and reservations if they are adhered to. Bit upsetting …not the first time this has happened …..

When checking in on opentable I specified there will be more than 2 diners and that it was my husband and I 6 year wedding anniversary celebration along with a birthday celebration for my MIL. When I got the the restaurant 15 minutes later a rude guy greeted us with a next time call if you are bringing more than 2 people. I tried to call and no one answered. He then canceled my open table reservation even though we were all there. This is the only negative thing I have about this place. The greeted was terrible rude. The food my grandpa in law got a chicken pot pie and he said it was the best he ever had and he actually finished it. My MIL got the meatloaf and she also said it was the best meatloaf she's ever had. My husband for the steak and I had a piece. Cooked to perfect temp my husband request and it was full of flavor. My kids had 4 sides of fried they couldn't get enough. I had the spicy thai noodle salad. It was one of the best salads I've ever had. So much flavor it actually had alot of noodles in it. Drinks espresso martini was OK. The melie tai is the best drink on the menu. So good I had to go make it at home. Towards the end still no one said anything about our celebrations not sure if this place helps you celebrate with a free dessert or champagne for anniversary or birthday but none was offered. I will be back as I really enjoyed the food drinks and vibes. The patio is warm and beautiful. The entire place is clean. My MIL and husband used the bathroom and they both said it was extremely clean.

We were a party of four. Our waiter Ryan was so pleasant and accommodating. Our food and drinks were served quickly. The food was hot and very tasty. Three of us had beef one fish. Everything was delicious.

We wish the green beans with Thail chili 🌶️ were back. The food and staff is extraordinary!

Our favorite local restaurant. Three generations of us enjoyed dinner on the covered patio with heatilators to make it very comfortable. We took our two Veterans out to thank them for their service on Veteran’s Day. Our server was terrific and the food was as wonderful as always. We had our favorites. Sea-bass, which was cooked perfectly in a yummy lemon sauce and the best prime rib dip sandwich that we’ve ever had. I order it with petite salad that is like kale slaw with almonds in a light dressing. We didn’t have room for our favorite dessert. Their famous Warm Butter Cake with a berry compote with ice cream. It’s very rich and enough for a few. I’m wishing for a bite right about now… We always make reservations as it’s quite popular. I love that it’s a converted Quonset Hut, that is very attractive with a nice casual but sophisticated look and vibe. The bar is beautiful. Don’t miss a chance to visit their pretty ladies room. We used to drive up the coast to another one and are so glad they opened one in Carlsbad, CA.

Pork ribs were excellent as was the ribeye melt. The beer selection is still subpar however. We waited well past our reservation time which was a bit of a downer and then got sat behind some of the drunkest people we had been around in a long time. The experience wasn't romantic but we got a show from the very drunk girl loudly telling her friends to "listen" as she told them about the favors she would do for her boyfriend if they moved in together. The whole thing seemed more like a bar vibe then an upscale restaurant. This was our third time there and the other two times have been very good so we are going to write this one off to bad luck.

We have tried almost everything on the Menu and haven’t been disappointed. We have some favorites but everything is to quality.

Love, love, love this place! Always packed so make a reservation unless you don’t mind sitting at the bar!!! The Bistro platter is my favorite!!!

We live locally in Carlsbad Village so we dine here often. Relatively new location, for Nicks and we used to have to go to San Clemente location. So it’s been great. The restaurant is beautiful, modern and clean, and offers large bar seating, and indoor as well as outdoor door tables. Always a good experience. Started with their Aperol Spritz and their IPA. Bar tenders are experienced and make great drinks. This time for dinner we had the quinoa and kale salad with salmon, highly recommend. Then we shared the chicken piccata with capers lemon sauce and their whipped mash. Very good, large portion and definitely shareable. To pair the dishes we had a carafe of the Synthesis Cabernet Sauvignon. Recommended. We finished with the Pumpkin Banana bread pudding. Delish! All in all for $127 it was very reasonable, and most importantly very tasty. Their servers are kind and attentive. Another great dining experience at Nicks on State, and we look forward to returning soon…probably in a few days. :-)
