« Tenant son nom du plus grand quotidien du sud de la France, le Nice Matin apporte à l’Upper West Side une touche de cuisine provençale et une petite présentation à la cuisine de Nice, berceau entre autres de la pissaladière et du pan bagnat et, si on en croit la carte, d’un énorme steak au comté, mariné à l’aïoli et servi avec des frites au romarin. C’est le meilleur hamburger depuis que Daniel Boulud a rassemblé foie gras et côtelettes dans un steak haché. Nice Matin is consistently superb, whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This time it was breakfast, and what a joy to find that the chef turns out real omelettes (one avocado, one Gruyère), rather than the flattened scrambled eggs usually served elsewhere. Add really fresh squeezed orange juice and great coffee and you’ll think the set charge ($24.95) is a steal, which it is. Gracious hostesses, a spacious and beautiful room, excellent friendly but professional service—it all adds up to a very special breakfast treat. (The vibe at dinner is different—but the same UWS gentility prevails, excellent food etc.)

Nice little French restaurant in the Upper West Side. Sidewalk dining on a cool evening was sublime. The lamb was excellent; the service fast and efficient. And such a wine list!

Was very disappointed. The food was extremely, tasteless, poor and overpriced. Will not be returning. I also felt the hygiene was questionable due to how the servers discarded other tables food right infront of my table.

Nice Matin is an ideal spot for breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinner. The location on the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and West 79th Street is convenient. Seating is well-spaced and comfortable with plenty of room between tables outside under the awnings or dining shed or inside the beautifully decorated space. Our lunch yesterday was delicious! The four of us dined on Salade Nicoise, Socca Crepes (a specialty of Southern France) and Shakshuka -- all tasty and beautifully prepared. The service was impeccable! Nice Matin has an excellent wine list, and a tempting array of drinks, including a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. Our friends from out-of-town and we, long-time residents of the Upper West Side, were delighted at the experience.

French style food : New York sized portions Service was fine, there was a bit of a delay between appetizers and mains but overall OK. Hamburger, sole meuniere and poulet were excellent. Did I say large ? We would go again any time
