Our menu represents Chef Michael's Blackie’s best food memories, which span over his 35 plus international career Chef worked in Asia, Latin America and is an expat from the UK.
His food style can best be described as a balance between Canadian roots with a strong influence in both Asian, Latin and European cuisines.
We are currently open for Dinner weekly 7 days week from 5 to 9 pm. We are known for our blind tasting menu that features 8 dishes shared between minimum of 2 people. We are also open for Sunday Brunch from 10am to 1 pm and offer a sharing 5 course - 10 dish brunch tasting menu.
NeXT opened in 2009 and is consistently in the top drawer of established restaurants in the Ottawa / Gatineau region. NeXT has been awarded many accolades over these past 11 years.

We had a wonderful family brunch with our adult children enjoying every bite and explanation from Chef Blackie of the fabulous tasting menu! Personable, great explanations and humour that allowed us to enjoy each course all the more! Great environment , great food and great service - what more could you ask for!

Made our date night. The eight plate discovery meal was incredible especially the Bao and duck. Can't wait to go again.

The food tasted very good. The noise level made carrying on a conversation difficult. The service and table attentiveness was poor for a restaurant of this price point.

The ambiance of this restaurant is truly its strong suit—warm lighting, tasteful decor, and an inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to linger and enjoy a meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived hot and fresh, clearly made to order. That said, the menu leans heavily on deep-frying. While everything was crispy and well-executed, it felt like almost every dish relied on batter, breading, or some form of frying on top of frying. A little contrast would have gone a long way—some dishes that let the ingredients speak for themselves, without an extra layer of crunch, would have provided balance and highlighted the freshness of the food. For those who love fried food, this place certainly delivers. But a few lighter options would make an already enjoyable meal even better.

We arrived for our reservation and we’re met and sat right away, the service was absolutely excellent and the food matched. This is our second time at Next for Sunday Brunch, we have now decided we would like to reserve for an evening dinner …… We would recommend this restaurant to all willing to try something a little bit different and a time that is so enjoyable.

We usually choose NeXT for our special occasion meals, because you definitely get more than what you pay for and not having to go downtown is the best bonus! Also, the variety offered for the tasting menus keeps things interesting and everything is always delicious!
