It was our third visit to the Nest Farmhouse and we were very disappointed. The food was good but the service was poor. Abi was the only server who was actually engaging with customers and the rest of the staff were busy chatting to each other, drinking from water bottles on shift and ignoring the customers. The service fee of 12.5 % is ok if the service is good, but it was woeful. The prices are very high, but acceptable if the experience is good, on this occasion it wasn’t. The team looked scruffy and were not being managed, it was expensive and disappointing, but thankfully the food was good when someone eventually took our order. I hope that the staffing problems get resolved before long as people will not patronise this beautiful new restaurant.

Nest Farmhouse is a modern building in a lovely rural surrounding on a farm, by a lake. We arrived around 7.45pm and took the last parking space around the edge of the large gravelled parking area. The decor inside the restaurant is tasteful and lighting at the right level. For me I would have liked to see tablecloths rather than bare tables at this price point, this would have set the scene for a more 'high end' experience. The wine list has something for everyone although I felt it could still be fine tuned. One of our group of four wasn't drinking, the rest of us has cocktails and beer and then a bottle of the Montepulciano which was disappointing and quite rare to find a bad one. I would say it would not have been very expensive in the shops. The food was all well presented, unfortunately the trout was slightly flavourless and overpowered by the accompaniments. The rilletes were fantastic however. Main courses three of us shared the Rib of Beef and one had the Confit Duck with Cassoulet and all enjoyed very much. The Crispy Garlic Potatoes were excellent. One final thought; the loos could really benefit from some more sympathetic lighting, its a bit of a shock when you enter from the restaurant, and hand towels rather than a noisy blower for this type of restaurant would be a big plus.

Lovely setting and really great decor. Very relaxed atmosphere with a buzzy vibe. The staff were great. Friendly but not intrusive. Food was delicious. We were there for Sunday lunch and both had a roast. Other options were available. I’d say a wee bit pricey but wouldn’t put us off going again.

From the very first welcome from Georgi I was impressed. The staff are attentive but not intrusive and clearly other guests love The Nest too as for a weekday it was nicely busy with a real buzz about the place. We eat out rather a lot and rarely am I so impressed but the food was amazing well cooked and always with a little twist! The only down side was I was too full for dessert- which sounded delightful. Entirely my fault - I didn’t need to eat so much of the sharing dish we had, but that of course means we will have to go back again soon!
