The cliff-top eatery pays homage to Sea Hunt’s main character, Mike Nelson, as well as actor Lloyd Bridges’ lifetime efforts to protect the environment and the ocean. The location is great and I definitely go here for the environment. The food is okay. Carne Asada tacos are the best thing I have had there. The fried chicken sandwich was very large and decent and fries were great. Nachos were okay as was the kale salad, but they do put a lot of chicken on it when you add it. The drinks are really good there, but I do prefer them from the main bar. Service was great and wait staff super friendly!

We wanted to really like Nelsons at Terranea. Our kid is coming to visit in a few weeks and wanted to take us out to dinner and we were scouting for a fun new place. It was a Monday Night and also my wife's birthday. Our first bump in the road was when we arrived and valet parked and the shuttle to Nelson's took 20 minutes to arrive. I was anxious that they wouldn't hold our reservation. Nelsons does have amazing views, beautiful outdoor tables. It's a casual place. We ordered one of our favorite appetizers, fried calamari. It was like fried greasy cardboard, but a generous portion of fried greasy cardboard. I'm not sure how it was so bad, maybe it was frozen and then dried out? The cocktail sauce was the best part of that dish. Next we ordered the lobster roll at the server's suggestion. He had said it was his favorite thing on the menu; Again, it was dry and tasteless. I've never had a lobster roll so less memorable. We ordered a second round of wine. 20 minutes after we ordered the 2nd round of wine the server came back and asked if we had been served the wine and I just asked for the check. He said he was sorry about the wine not being sent over and he took the first round off the menu which was nice. We waited 15 minutes for the shuttle before giving up and began walking up the hill. In the main lobby there was really pleasant live music, we had our second round there.

Server didn’t come back after we ordered until passing by when we asked him for the bill.

Our food and service was very good. However, I requested near a fireplace and I also mentioned it was our anniversary…neither one of them were acknowledged.

We celebrated my wife's birthday. Fantastic swordfish and carne asada tacos for lunch, with an amazing key lime pie for dessert. Incredible views and casual atmosphere, our server Alyssa was friendly and attentive. Next time we stay at the resort we plan on heading to Nelsons for dinner to enjoy the sunset!

Good fish tacos and the lobster roll was GREAT! Portions were generous and the service was great. Beautiful setting.

Great food great service great location. Our server was the best. She deserves an award for the nine people she had to take care of. The food was excellent. Will come back again and again.
