A guest favorite for casual dining, Nelson’s is perched directly above the ocean coves made famous by the 1950s television series Sea Hunt – from which this modern surf shack takes its name. The cliff-top eatery pays homage to Sea Hunt’s main character, Mike Nelson, as well as actor Lloyd Bridges’ lifetime efforts to protect the environment and the ocean. Our reservations was at 7:45 & didn’t get seat almost 8pm & other people went before us when their reservation was at 8pm then when we do get seated we ended up sitting outside at the picnic tables

As always a perfect spot to grab a bite, we love dining at the restaurants at Terranea. With it being the 4th things were a little off, but not holding that against the experience or restaurant. Highly recommend.

Spicy Margarita was delicious and not overly spicy. The fish and chips were delicious. We loved the seared ahi sandwich. Serving so large I had to deconstruct to eat! French fries were good. We ate outside with our dog and had beautiful ocean view! The timing was perfect… a tram outside took us back up the hill to our casita.

The casual setting is great for lunch. Every table has a great view of the ocean! The menu isn't extensive but has something for everyone. Fish and Chips, Salads, Tacos, etc.

The location is great and I definitely go here for the environment. The food is okay. Carne Asada tacos are the best thing I have had there. The fried chicken sandwich was very large and decent and fries were great. Nachos were okay as was the kale salad, but they do put a lot of chicken on it when you add it. The drinks are really good there, but I do prefer them from the main bar. Service was great and wait staff super friendly!

We wanted to really like Nelsons at Terranea. Our kid is coming to visit in a few weeks and wanted to take us out to dinner and we were scouting for a fun new place. It was a Monday Night and also my wife's birthday. Our first bump in the road was when we arrived and valet parked and the shuttle to Nelson's took 20 minutes to arrive. I was anxious that they wouldn't hold our reservation. Nelsons does have amazing views, beautiful outdoor tables. It's a casual place. We ordered one of our favorite appetizers, fried calamari. It was like fried greasy cardboard, but a generous portion of fried greasy cardboard. I'm not sure how it was so bad, maybe it was frozen and then dried out? The cocktail sauce was the best part of that dish. Next we ordered the lobster roll at the server's suggestion. He had said it was his favorite thing on the menu; Again, it was dry and tasteless. I've never had a lobster roll so less memorable. We ordered a second round of wine. 20 minutes after we ordered the 2nd round of wine the server came back and asked if we had been served the wine and I just asked for the check. He said he was sorry about the wine not being sent over and he took the first round off the menu which was nice. We waited 15 minutes for the shuttle before giving up and began walking up the hill. In the main lobby there was really pleasant live music, we had our second round there.

Our food and service was very good. However, I requested near a fireplace and I also mentioned it was our anniversary…neither one of them were acknowledged.
