Chef Nasrin can’t remember life before cooking. For her, cooking is an expression of love. In her family’s kitchen in Tehran, she faithfully learned secret recipes and delicate skills from her grandmother and mother. In her restaurant those dishes and memories are transformed into a flavorful experience that transcend borders and time. Nasrin's kitchen menu is a celebration of traditional dishes from all over Iran.

The menu consists of classic stews including her signature Fesenjoon - an elegant combination of pomegranate molasses and crushed walnuts, as well as other beloved favorites like Ghormeh sabzi. Kabobs, vegetarian centric appetizers and savory side dishes also adorn the colorful menu.

Chef Nasrin and her authentic cooking has been featured in several renowned publications: including the New York Times, The New Yorker Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Eater. She has also created memorable catering events for Google, Twitter, HBO & NYC Public Library.

I had dined at Nasrin's Kitchen before and raved about it (as had friends who had eaten there before I did) so I suggested to an Iranian friend that we eat there together. Was I disappointed! With our kashk-e bademjan we were served only one small piece of bread; the barg I ordered was dried out; and I recall a larger glass of dugh when I was there before. My friend was polite and said nothing nor did I. I've lived in Iran and I cook Persian food (as, of course, does she) so I do know how the food should taste. Perhaps because it was just before they closed for Labor Day and we had the last seating (at 4:00) that we served such a disappointing meal. Our Iranian server, however, was eager to please and was delightful.

warm place, down to earth place with good food, kind service, and beautiful decor in a stunning marble-walled place with some exposed brick and lots of lovely persian calligraphy. you walk in and just know you're in good hands--not stuffy like other places in midtown. we started with the kashk bademjoon and you should probably do the same, it's garlicky and yum. and the mast mosir and salad shirazi will only make whatever entrees you get pop even more. every bite we good. might be wrong, but call ahead if you don't do stairs, i'm not sure there's another way in.

This place has a lovely authentic feel and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We have had much better Persian food. The appetizers were decent and we expected the main courses to be at least that good. But no! Huge piles of rice with tiny portions of flavorless chicken and, in the kebab dish, seriously dried out. We declined to extend the misery into the dessert course. It was a birthday dinner and I really wanted to treat my friend to something special. How disappointing. Although the prices were standard for Manhattan, the value was missing. We love supporting small ethnic places but this place will not see us for a return visit.

Both chicken entrees were outstanding. Very generous portions. We took home all our delicious leftovers. And the service was great, too. We'll be back.

Quite literally the best meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The food was magical. The atmosphere transported us. The service felt like being at a relative’s house. Even the menu read like a poem. We will happily make the trip back to NYC just to eat at Nasrin’s Kitchen.

We had a group of 8. The restaurant was about 20 percent filled. They wanted to charge me a 100 service fee to put two tables together. We sat down and ate. Everything was ok. Even after we left, the restaurant was no more than 30 percent filled. Just a bit silly to try to shake us down like that.

We had a great evening at Nasrin's Kitchen, and it is clear that everything -- from the food to the ambience -- was the result of great care. I was especially a fan of the mirza ghasemi!

Nasrin's kitchen is a neighborhood gem, a gift of original delicious and home style food to that stretch of 57th St. The staff was attentive, and I look forward to tasting more of the dishes next time!
