Nami Nori is a casual, Japanese restaurant specializing in open-style temaki hand rolls, located in Montclair. The menu features signature hand rolls, including crunchy varieties, as well as classic versions, and a special vegan section. Japanese-inspired dishes from the kitchen and desserts are also on offer.

We accept reservations up to 30 days in advance. Please note that the grace period is 10 minutes for guests who are running late. We kindly ask that guests respect our dinner seating times of 1 hr 30 minutes for parties up to 3 and 2 hours for parties of 4-5, and 2 hr 30 minutes for parties of 6 or more.

    There’s nothing better than sitting at the Temaki Counter and having the chef personally hand you each piece! This chef interactive reservation will be at the Temaki counter, which is a high top format. Please note, due to demand, we can’t guarantee that we’ll have the ability to move this reservation to a different table type or dining area.

    Grab a seat in our indoor dining room and enjoy a server driven experience! This reservation will be seated at a traditional table inside. Reservations at tables will receive their Temaki in complete sets. To guarantee the most crisp nori, each piece will be wrapped in a plant based wrapper that you’ll remove when you’re ready to enjoy! Please note, due to demand, we can’t guarantee that we’ll have the ability to move this reservation to a different table type or dining area.

    The food is absolutely incredible. My new favorite temaki. Great quality fish and lots of options. The service, however, was so-so. We sat at the counter, and the waitress was slow and the sushi chef behind the bar was not very friendly. The restaurant has a very nice vibe but on a cold winter day the entire place can’t seem to keep warm. They have nothing stopping cold air from rushing into the entire restaurant every time someone opens the front door. Overall still an enjoyable experience.

    The experience is truly in the food and atmosphere. The clientele took our order and delivered unique and individual bites that left an impression every time. Highly recommended to any sushi lover (fun tidbit it’s gluten free and can be dairy free upon request)

    Wonderful experience for dinner. Extremely fresh and high quality food. The ambience was perfect and servers and temaki counter were exceptional. Can’t wait to return!

    This was such a unique and amazing experience! I came with two friends, we sat at the temaki counter and it was the perfect girls night out. Our rolls were so good and I loved that we got to pace ourselves while we ate. We also got the mushroom dip and enjoyed that as well! I absolutely want to come back here with my boyfriend. We were in and out in 40 minutes - so quick! Absolutely worth it.

    The food tasted delicious and fresh. I pleasantly satisfied with how fulfilling it was. The temakis are wonderfully balanced with texture and flavor. But unfortunately, much like any other good restaurant in Montclair, I couldn’t enjoy one single glass of wine, which was disappointing.

    Fri lunch for 2 at the temaki counter was a decent experience. Server allowed us to switch seats after being seated, to be further away from the entrance. Our water glasses were refilled on request, place seemed understaffed for lunchtime crowd though servers are friendly. At first, was concerned about wait time as only one sushi chef was working at a full counter. All the sushi rice is already shaped & prepped and nori pieces quickly warmed. Nori was crisp and tasty. We each ordered the signature sushi with 5 pieces, enough for lunch. Chef prepares the sushi like tacos, basically stuffing them and then applying sauce or toppings. I would skip the furikake fries, overseasoned and not enough mentaiko mayo (xtra $2). Also, the oishii sandwich cake for dessert ($12) was cold & dry, straight out of the fridge though the bits of oishii strawberries was good. Will give this place another go in a few months on a weekday, or will try Nami Nori in NYC for comparison. Ratings on Opentable seem on the high end after our first experience. Personally, a somewhat underwhelming experience but appreciate this place is in existence in Montclair.

    Everything was lovely and delicious. As we were finishing our last pieces of sushi, we were told that the next reservation was waiting. This was inappropriate and sadly ruined the occasion.

    Sushi was fresh and delicious, we had the signature set and added extra temaki’s from the list. Appetizers were delicious as well, we got the potato salad with ikura and the spicy tuna salsa.

    Imaginative bites, that are quite substantial. This is one of our favorite restaurants for the thoughtful treatment of ingredients. Service is attentive but not intrusive and can answer any questions regarding the dishes and preparations.
