Nami Kaze Hawaii is the story of Chef Jason Peel’s culinary journey. Combining the flavors from his hometown of Kaua‘i, and the decades of experience working for some of Hawai‘i’s top culinary leaders, including Ian Ruso of Michele’s at the Colony Surf and Roy Yamaguchi, Nami Kaze Hawaii is a unique melting pot of culinary creativity. With a farmer-focused approach, guests can expect to embark on a culinary adventure, enjoying creations that reflect Peel’s appreciation for the produce and provisions found throughout the state.

Nami Kaze Hawaii is currently open for brunch and dinner, Wednesday through Sunday. Nami Kaze Hawaii's brunch menu offers a unique take on local Hawaii brunch favorites, while its dinner menu features izayaka-style share plates with plans to debut a sushi omakase-style bar in 2023. Chef de cuisine : Jason Peel

Chef Jason Peel is known nationally as the former executive chef for Roy’s Waikiki and beloved locally as a cooking instructor at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. He opened his own restaurant Nami Kaze in 2022, quickly scoring a couple of James Beard Award nominations for izakaya-style small plates, both hot and cold, that star favorite local farmers and fishermen. Be sure to try the hamachi rolls, plus the honey walnut shrimp stacked on waffles at brunch.

We loved the unique choices, variety and the flavors. I’m a pescatarian so the menu was extraordinary and the service was great. The ambience, servers, the food was all exceptional.

Let me start off by saying that my wife and I don’t have to go out for dinner. My wife is an amazing chef/cook but there are times when she is just too tired to cook. That’s where Nami Kaze comes in. We go there for the following reasons. The food is incredibly creative. Multi layered with flavors almost impossible to describe. The service with its true aloha spirit moves like a ballet ensemble. It’s just a joy to feel relaxed and pampered. Everyone on the floor can describe each dish as if he or she worked on the line. Go there to be titillated and wanting to return over and over again.

Genuinely some of the best food I had while on Oahu. Every dish was incredible and we could tell that there was love and hard work put into each one. A plus that it’s away from the crazy tourist crowds.

We made our reservation for lunch at the last minute with a lot of open times. Thinking the place would be slow and empty, it was packed and bustling - and that made more sense as it is a popular place and it was the lunch hour. Rather than wait for our table (we were 10 minutes early), we opted for bar seating. We were served by the bartender, who was very pleasant and helpful, but was obviously very busy as she was taking food to the table next to the bar, making drinks, etc. Again, she was helpful, pleasant and apologetic about the wait for our food - which was not really that long. We have eaten here several times and once again, enjoyed the food VERY much. We had the Goteburger and People's Choice (Ginger fried chicken and fresh ahi poke). Both were outstanding dishes.

Every dish was really ono and interesting! Highly recommend if you enjoy super fresh and creative dishes. Great beer choices from local breweries. The sushi rolls were superb as were every veggie dish we tried. Perfect for a family style upscale dinner.

Amazing food and cocktails as always. Super friendly and attentive staff. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great! Highly recommended.

Another great brunch! The shrimp benedict never disappoints. Soft shell crab sandwich was also great, first time I tried it. I also appreciate the sophisticated options on the keiki menu, very refreshing to have solid choices for kids these days. Service was good, I’m old school and was happy to have a paper menu option rather than a QR code. Can’t wait to go back to keep making my way through the menu.

The second time here, the food was awesome! every dish was great. Starters/pupus was vegetables forward and well done. we'll be back!
