Opened in 1978 and located in the heart of historic Old Town, Alexandria, Murphy's Grand Irish Pub is one of Alexandria's best-loved and most inviting restaurants. Murphy's offers an extensive menu and top-class traditional cuisine in the welcoming ambiance of its cozy settings.

A short 10-15-minute drive from the nation's capital, this landmark establishment is located at the main intersection in Old Town, King & Washington.

Today, the tradition of great food and drink remains as steadfast as when the doors first opened back in 1978

Murphy's has Live Irish Music seven nights a week and on weekends, on both floors.

Always great food, especially their oysters. Noise level is contingent on how many super drunk people are there at any given time. But it’s an Irish bar so caveat emptor.

Always a great brunch after mass on Sunday! The eggs Benedict is very reliable. Veggie omelet made to order for our dairy free daughter. Belgian waffles that are always a crowd pleaser.

We had a delicious breakfast outside. Service was wonderful. The food is always delicious. And they are always kind to my dog.

We decided to sit outside this time because the noise level inside was too high. But as always, the food and the service was great!

Busy place. Definite neighborhood feel. Friendly efficient staff, good food. Well worth a stop if in Alexandria.

Excellent breakfast as usual. All 6 of us were pleased with our meals! Waiter was friendly and efficient!

When we arrived for our 5 o’clock reservation no one greeted us except a sign, it was, “seat yourself”. We found a small table for two in the back. The bar was already busy and it was noisy. We had 3 different women wait on us for drinks and meals. I ordered the bangers and mash which was just okay. I’ve had better in a number of Irish restaurants before. My wife ordered the walnut salad with chicken which was plentiful and she said it was good. I had ask one of our servers to make sure we got credit for dining on open table since one greeted us at the door and we sealed ourselves. I don’t think I’d eat here again mainly because of the noise level and the mediocrity of my meal.

We dropped in for dinner while on a business trip. The restaurant is so interesting and lively the minute you walk in. The walls are plastered with law enforcement badges and stained glass of Irish men. The menu has plenty to choose from and the meat and potato pie was amazing!! Two of us had the fish and chips. Big portions. They had Guiness on tap and I had the blueberry mule. The star was Oz our server. He was so much fun, knew the menu and accommodated our every need. He made the entire visit the best! You MUST stop in and enjoy this neighborhood gem and whatever you do, ask for the server named OZ!! You won't regret it!
