A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

Enjoy a Thanksgiving buffet that includes all the classics like turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, plus the home-style goodness of Mrs. Knott's fried chicken and other classic offerings. Plus champagne or pumpkin cider. All Open Table reservations made for Thursday, November 28, 2024 will be for our Champagne Brunch. Regular dining will be available via walk-ins only, but space is limited.

We hadn’t heard of the senior buffet on Tuesday so we decided to make a reservation and go. We arrived about 15 minutes before our 4:15 reservation. Greeted immediately but we were not called to a table until 4:35. We were sat our table and nothing was said about what to do. We sat about another 10 min and no one showed up to help us. We decided to just get up and help ourselves to the buffet. We had found drinks at the buffet also. We had eaten our first plate of food and no one had still picked up our ticket or greeted us!! Finally after we were almost done a nice young girl came and picked up our ticket. We didn’t see her again until she brought our bill back to pay. Maybe this is the way it is but we were dumbfounded by the lack of service. Seems like they sit several groups all at the same time which makes the room quite crowded for getting food. Also most trays were empty and people were standing around waiting for the trays to be re filled which didn’t seem to happening too fast. We would definitely go again but definitely not expect any service and just do our own thing!! When the food came out it was hot and very good.

The Buffet was great. It was special priced for over 65. Only available on specific Tuesday such as November 5. Our reservation was at 4, but we didn’t get seated until 4:30.

Great food, value, drinks and ended it with pie! You don't get to stick around for 90 plus years and not do things well.

The reservation experience was great through open table but I thought more times should have been available for the amount of people in the restaurant. The food was good for the portion sizes as our group only got the fried chicken. The service was poor. The soft drinks are $7, like what! The ice tea was terrible. The bread served was burnt. One time visit for me!

Food was so bad. Everything was flour and disgusting. Chicken bland. Not going back.

The service and waiter was great! The restaurant is super cute and it was clean. The food I will say is ok. It’s definitely not as good as it used to be. The chicken was hot but the sides were hot and the taste just isn’t the same unfortunately.

Not given napkins, had to ask. Just a couple of knives and forks in container. Chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy were cold. Noise level was high, hard to hear. Soup was so thick, like gravy. Biscuits were gummy. Corn was from a can and not seasoned. No salt and pepper on table. Even though the rhubarb was ok, it wasn’t like I used to get there years ago. Won’t be booking our Thanksgiving dinner there.

Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner is an iconic restaurant that we frequent every time we are in Los Angeles area. Especially if we plan to do Knotts Berry Farm! The meals are so big you will eat them for several days! Always being topped off by the iconic boysenberry pie. We always go for the original chicken dinner, but there are many other comfort food items that are great such as chicken and dumplings and chicken fried steak. Very yummy and brings nostalgia from your childhood home cooked meals! Highly recommended!
