A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

Service was attentive and outstanding. Food has always been delicious and generous. Was a wonderful experience to celebrate grandmother’s 80th birthday.

The food was absolutely delicious. Haven’t been in years, but it definitely doesn’t disappoint! Fresh, homemade food and a happy atmosphere, friendly and fast service! Thank you for the memories!

Our poor server had a huge table after we were seated. He was not able to serve us in any way as they took presidence. It took 20 minutes for our soup to arrive and never got a second glass of wine until we flagged down another server. Our biscuits were bunt. He tried to appease us with a free bowl of soup and pie, but by then we wanted to leave. The soup was not its usual goodness.

Staff were personable, friendly. Restaurant was clean, pleasant atmosphere. Food was expensive + mediocre. The entrees just weren’t seasoned well. Getting the chicken to-go next door would’ve been the better deal.

I grew up in California and lived this place. However, I was disappointed last night. The biscuits were not completely baked leaving a dough like center. The chicken was a little soggy like it had been sitting awhile. The jam was not the classic boysenberry jam. The pie also did not taste like the boysenberry pie I used to love. The service was slow. Just disheartened to see a restaurant I loved lower their standards.

We took our youngest grandson to Knott’s to celebrate his summer vacation. We were there when they opened, spent the whole day riding rides and having a ball. When we left, we were all hungry. We decided to try Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. I have several allergies so eating anywhere is difficult. They carefully prepared my dinner to my specifications. The guys had chicken pot pies. We had a wonderful server. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

We sat in the Bar area. Food was tasty, except for our chicken wings. They had a rancid smell. The issue was addressed to our satisfaction, but disappointed I couldn't enjoy my favorite piece. I was also shocked by the $6.99 lemonade price. Very pleased with our service provider.

The food and service were as amazing as ever. I ordered the Chicken Dinner and ate everything. The service was amazing.
