I recently enjoyed a dining experience at Moxies, my favorite spot in Houston for nachos. We shared the 1-pound cheese nachos, which I always order with grilled chicken instead of blackened. Even though it’s listed as an appetizer, it was perfect to split between three people as our meal. Others in our group tried the French onion soup, which was tasty, and the blackened chicken sandwich with fries, which got great reviews too. We were seated in a cozy half-circle booth, ideal for conversation. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t half-off bottle wine night and that we missed happy hour, but the overall experience was still great. Our server was attentive and friendly, though I had hoped for a small celebratory dessert since I mentioned it was a special occasion when making the reservation. All in all, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent.

Everything about this place was amazing from the minute i walked in. The service was impeccable and we didn’t have to wait long for anything. Food was absolutely amazing. Ambience was everything i expected and more. The only bad thing was we were by a table of people that were very loud but other than that it was a great experience and i will be back.

This was my third time at Moxies. I brought my date there literally for the purpose of impressing her. Not because Moxies is bougie and flashy, but because of the ambience, service, and quality of the food and drinks. When you walk into Moxies, you know you’ve stepped into a hip and trendy restaurant that is not even remotely pretentious. Doors are opened and held for you, and everyone we encountered was extremely, professional, and refined. We shared a 6 oz filet and mahi mahi. Houston has as many steakhouses as it does Starbucks, but this filet could have held its own against any of River Oaks or downtown’s best offerings. The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked and quite flavorful without going overboard. The twice baked potato was better than any other ones I’ve tasted in my life. Overall, we got a tremendous value and a perfect dining experience for what we paid. I look forward to going back to “our place” for more special occasions.
