We booked the first reservation time for dinner and arrived to an empty dining room. When asked to sit with a window view, we were told by the hostess that the dining room was too busy — which would be completely fair if this was true — but it was not. When we told her that, she was very dismissive. The dining room was empty and stayed empty for 40 minutes. By the time we left after two hours, many of the tables were still empty, so this seemed very rude considering we had booked our reservation well in advance and called to confirm the view. Fair enough. The main issue is, after coming here for many years, we have also noticed a deterioration of food and service. My parents went to the bathroom and early on complained that it smelled of sardines. Thinking that was a bizarre comment, I went myself and found that to be true. Our tables were rickety and were off level. Our charcuterie was served with two slices of bread, cut in half (so four triangles of bread for a full charcuterie board). Our mains were delicious, but served with uncooked mushrooms, which is also a unique choice. This was my fifth time booking a large family dinner at Emerald Lake Lodge and it has gotten to a point where the seasonal staff have given us the perception that they don’t care about providing good customer service any more. This dining experience is no longer worth the price point.
