the welcome was nice, some nice drinks and vegetable crips while browsing menu, chose the taster menu with wine flight - the food was served was just ok, bread tasted stale although selection of butters nice, all the other courses just ok, the quail and beef dish had the same garnish / sauce of different roasted onions and the Beef was served with cold smashed potatoes, the desserts had a little more thought and were quite nice - the wine s were nice and the service good however it will not be somewhere we'll rush back to :-( such a shame

We opted for the Tasting Menu. We started with canapes and home made breads with a selection of butters - parsley, sea salt and black olive. The presentation and quality of the food was excellent throughout the meal and the Herefordshire Beef outstanding. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We have been for dinner to Mortimers on several previous occasions but this was the first time we had been for lunch.

It was a treat for my Mom. She had recently celebrated her 80th birthday, and it was excellent. Staff were attentive and helpful. The food was perfect, and each course of the lunch menu was executed faultlessly. A wonderful combination of flavours and textures. Would thoroughly recommend

We had the lunchtime tasting menu with a bottle of wine rather than the accompanying selection of wines. The food was outstanding, the service excellent (very non-intrusive) and the ambience is lovely. Comparatively, I'd say the prices were good value. We shall certainly be returning soon.

Delicious food in a charming wood-panelled dining room. One of my guests commented 'The cod was really really good - a sign of an A1 chef to make something so nice out of humble ingredients', which was entirely accurate. I thought the Gressingham duck starter including an exquisite mouse was the high point of an excellent menu. The wine list was well chosen and reasonably priced. The service was polite and efficient.

Outstanding evening. Highly recommended, all aspects of our visit were spot on. Definately book again.

Everything about this restaurant is excellent. The staff are very welcoming and very professional. It was very pleasing to be offered both a dinner menu and tasting menu. This was particularly good because I am a vegetarian, my husband is not. I was delighted to be offered a vegetarian dinner and tasting menu. This is rare as many chefs these days only seem to cater for vegans! Every course that we had was fine dining at its best. Even the petit fours with the coffee were superb. Excellent choice of food for both of us and a very good wine list. We can’t wait to go back.

Although relatively expensive, I feel it’s good value because the food served is beyond anything I could achieve! The ingredients are quality and the presentation is excellent!

From the welcome we experienced on arrival to the commentary on each course, to the wine advice we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. All courses on the taster menu were delicious. We didn’t meet the chef but front of house were all confident characters and a credit to the overall team. Great overall experience, efficient but not rushed and a very enjoyable 2.5 hours experience. Wayne Smith but try for a gong but glad he hasn’t as the food is to the same quality but in the realms of good value without the gong.
