Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale. Led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien, the restaurant embodies an innovative approach to Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing a menu that is both unique and complex. Chef Tien's main objective is to pay tribute to his heritage as a first-generation Asian American, using Moon Rabbit as a platform for expressing his love for Vietnamese culture and food.

Dans un espace moderne aux allures de bibliothèque, sa carte exigeante (citons le Mực Nhồi Thị (boudin farci aux calamars) et le Cá Viên (lotte grillée au barbecue avec des légumes verts)) est à la fois fidèle à ses origines asiatiques et à son enfance en Louisiane, mais est aussi avant-gardiste, ce qui permet de vivre une expérience unique à chaque visite.

My daughter and son-in-law took me out for my birthday (while my wife, not as much of a "foodie" as the three of us), babysat our grandson. We all had the "Chef's Tour of Vietnam" and everyone thought it was extraordinary. It's $75/person and worth every penny assuming that you like incredible food. We will back.

My daughter and I had a fabulous experience tonight at Moon Rabbit. The food was amazing - we ordered the tasting menu and drinks. Everything was exquisite. The staff was attentive and super friendly. Sean was our FABULOUS server and to top off this experience, we had the opportunity to meet Chef Tien. He could not have been more gracious and genuine as we learned more about his journey as a chef! Truly, thank you to the Moon Rabbit team for a bucket list experience.

Great food and great service. More french-influenced than I really expected, but as I love french cuisine, it really worked for me. Everything from the appetizer-sized dishes to the larger plates were executed really well. Highlights were the pate-en-croute, the waygu stuffed perilla leaves and the stuffed quail dish. Kudos to the Somm who really helped us pick the right wine to go with the complicated dishes.

I was expecting a lot more based on the buzz around the restaurant. The servers were not as well trained as they should have been for a high-end establishment and the food was ok, but not spectacular. I have to say, I will not be back.
